Brennan's Dad has been quoted as saying they were willing to red-shirt.
In addition Narcisse supposedly said they had designed plays for him to run as the circumstance dictated.
Thirdly, when should one quarterbacks life decisions be dictated on someone else's lack playing time?
Put you big boy pants on and compete. If you can't compete make a decision that is in your best interest.

I think It can, if Joe stays mostly healthy and we don’t play Brennan in garbage time.
Look at Jennings in 2013.
He only threw passses in 4 games all other participation was like a random QB keeper here and there.
Realistically we only needed him to play in like 2 games.

It seems pretty clear that something happened over the weekend. A depth chart was given to the QBs, someone was asked to red shirt, or the quarterbacks were told that they would not be sharing snaps any longer.
This kind of thing doesn’t just happen on its own. Good or bad it was a reaction to something.
