We have another connection StPete. We spoke awhile back about you being from Shreveport and us having acquaintances in common.
My great grandmother was Bessie Lee Roberts from Deridder. Apparently there was a hotel in downtown Deridder called the Bessie Lee many years ago.

That’s a fantastic story.
The first game I vividly remember watching with my father was LSU vs GA Tech in the 2000 Peach Bowl. I was 12 years old. That was the start of my fandom and Rohan Davey is still my favorite LSU player of all time. The first game I ever attended was LSU vs Alabama in Tiger Stadium in 2000 (the replay before replay game). We sat in the very last row of the East deck.
My father attended LSU, but I did not. Life did not take me that way. However, we have been out of state season ticket holders since 2002. My father is now in his 80’s and we make 1 game a year. This year is Bama. The countdown clock is approaching and I have found ways to make it easier on him (better seats, less walking, better parking). He has given me a gift I can never repay him for.
I will take this gift of being raised to be an LSU fan and share it with my nephews, nieces, family and friends to experience LSU football, the State of Louisiana, and the people and culture that makes everything so special.

At what age did you really become an LSU fan?
Age 12, sitting in the south end zone watching the Irish get there butt beat…
Congrats on the children

Following LSU can be an expensive habit, and I’m not just talking about football tickets! If you’re raising your family in Louisiana and hope to see your kids attend LSU someday, one of the smartest things you can do is start planning for those college expenses early. Be sure to check out Louisiana’s START Saving Program (Student Tuition Assistance and Revenue Trust), the state-sponsored college savings program. A little planning today can make a BIG difference when those tuition bills start arriving!

I still remember my dad yelling at me to stop blocking the TV and go get him another beer like it was just yesterday.
Good parenting. Grab him another for ME.

WWL Radio for night games (couldn’t catch WWL during the day in Texas). Great memories!

I suspect the amateur art critics would be lambasted pretty badly on here. tRant is a crazy place, but when it matters, most have a brain and a heart.

As far as deployments go, this one is pretty comfortable. Not saying that to diminish it at all, just to say that he’ll be in a pretty good spot.
Great living quarters, good food, and unless they’ve changed things, 2 beers a day. Hot as shite though.

My parents divorced when I was 11. From then on my dad took me to whatever was in season. He taught me about sports and fostered a love of LSU that persists today. We lost him unexpectedly in June. I miss him every day but never more than football Saturdays.
