Is Northwestern still pretty good? Not sure what they might have lost from last year.

I may have missed it, but why is Quarterman starting over Hickey again? I just assumed disciplinary stuff first game.

NWST is decent, but nothing special. We should beat them by 15-20. I couldnt even name you a player on Auburn's team.

It would surprise me in our game with them we score less than 100.

Not disciplinary at all.
Quarterman has been practicing with the "1st team" for most, if not all, full practices. It's my belief that this is to bring him and JJ's other recruits along as much as possible, to play the game he wants played. Coaches intended this. They like Quarterman's personality also. He's young, new and maleable.
Anthony has kind of a chip on his shoulder that doesn't endear him to his coaches.
However, he was given the task of teaching the offenses/defense to the "2nd string" - Malone, Hammink, Odo, Morgan, Hornsby (red-shirted) and the walk-ons.

I watched some scrimmages they had against each other. Intensely competitive and the 2nd team won some of those games.
John Odo, grinning as always, told me they won with their defense.

I think you'll see Anthony coming off the bench a lot as a spark plug, and he'll get a lot of minutes. He also might start sometimes, but it'll be down to a questions of match-ups each game.
We have that luxury this season - yay!

Over time, I've come to like the switch at PG. I'm not sure we can afford to have such a small back-court. Quarterman's height and length really help us IMO. I think Quarterman & Stringer can switch on screens w/o missing much of a beat. Quarterman's offensive game is an issue though.

That's what has me worried. Hickey is a better player at this point. Quarterman has size but I dont think he's ready for the limelight starting quite yet. I tried telling folks who thought Quarterman could play the 2 (simply because of his size) he is NOT a shooter. Almost all of his scoring in high school came driving to the hoop.

Agree with all you say.

I watched him play a little bit last season. He actually played in the post a bit for his HS team. He needs some time to mature at the PG spot. He's one of the players I'm most interested to see tomorrow. The next few games are great primers before the Old Spice Classic. I think Northwestern St. will challenge us for awhile tomorrow night too.

It will be a scorefest possibly even more than what we saw against UMass.

My prediction is we win 107-91 with JOB III and Hickey both going over 20.

NSU with the win! They made up for making no threes last game by making 13 tonight
This will be an entertaining game and LSU better bring its best effort. NSU might be a little tired from the travel however.

Northwestern St isn't as good as they were last year and LSU is better...yea it'll be an entertaining game and it'll never be a blowout but it'll never be a nail-biter either

LSU - 110
NSU - 93

This is one possible answer. One of my guesses is that Johnny used the "you'll come in and start right away" pitch to Mickey, Martin, and Quarterman. He could just be fulfilling a promise made in the recruiting process, but I doubt this rotation will last going into the Old Spice Classic

Not too often you see college teams play back to backs. Our fresh legs should help us get out to a quick start.

NSU hasn't dropped off this year as much as people keep saying. And they've got an impact freshman just like LSU that will be a difference maker all year. If they don't win the Southland I'll be shocked.
