a lot of people just think it's a given that Loston is going to be the starter. I think it's going to be a close competition between the two.
Posted on 2/9/12 at 8:34 pm to jdg91878
Loston is a playmaker and he will get the first chance at the position. It is time for him to step and take control of the safety spot.

We'll see after the spring game, but I think you're right on target.

La'el Collins has to start somewhere on the O-line. He is toO talented to be warming the bench. Maybe his CHEST in not big enough for Les
Where?
Doubtful Miles will pull an OL starter on a team that went undefeated in the regular season and with Dworaczyk coming back, there doesn't appear to be a spot on the OL for Collins to START.
The depth situation at Center is scary bad. NOBODY behind Lonergan with any game experience at all, which is NOT good. We haven't recruited jack shite at that important position recently. Cameron Fordham probably could have seen a lot of playing time this season if he hadn't have tucked tail and ran off. Who plays if Lonergan goes down? Gonna play a converted defensive lineman that has never taken a snap at Center? (Porter) I don't think so. Probably have to cross train one of the OL starters in the Spring to be the back up Center in case of an emergency and then have Collins ready to go at either Guard or Tackle to take the place of whomever takes over for Lonergan.
Posted on 2/9/12 at 10:37 pm to I Speak As I Please
I'd like Collins to play RT and Williford and Hurst to play the Guards. With Josh D being the 6th guy and able to slide right in to all 5 positions. Then you got Davenport, Branch, and Washington behind him. Should go 9 deep with almost zero dropoff. Best line in forever

I think so. he's already been here for a calendar year, and he's got a spring and fall camp ahead of him. plenty of time for him to have matured physically and for Ben and Stud to get him ready to play center. that Ben Domingue kid didn't seem so bad either.

Right. I just consider KeKE the starter even though Edwards is listed as the starter.
Word from some insiders is that Mingo is expected to play in the 250# range next season. If that comes to fruition, expect him to become the fulltime starter.

Anyone have any ideas as to who gets a redshirt?
Being 7 RBs deep seems wasteful...

FYI
1. Connor Neighbor = walk-on, not on scholarship.
2. Ryan St. Julien no longer on team.
3. John Thomas not yet signed, grades pending.
= 85 + 2 Kickers + 1 Punter + 1 Long Snapper = 89, assuming Porter and Alleman get Scholarships this year; 90 if both Sandolph and Thomas qualify.

A lot of small but fast receivers! Like it because mett will get it out quickly!!

LSU will always be loaded at RB. There are a ton of talented RB prospects in the state of LA every yr. RB depth will never really be an issue IMO

official roster says he is 240lbs....he, IMHO, needs to be 250+ if he wants to be more than a situational player. very talented kid...hope his genetics don't get in his way.

Didn't slide well vs Bama and got beat like a drum! Bring on L Collins.
Posted on 2/10/12 at 12:58 pm to Big Sway
I don't see how the coaches won't move collins to RT and slide hurst into RG. Williford really got pushed around a lot at times last year. Definitely the weak spot on the line last year, beside when T-bob was called on. Hurst also got beat on the pash rush quite often. Don't think he has quick enough feet to play a tackle position.
Posted on 2/11/12 at 12:26 pm to adammwilson
What pumps me up most about our depth chart is the entire 1 & 2 deep have all seen significant playing time outside of QB which would be almost impossible to regress.
