I would love to hear your logic on how a coaches salary doesn't cost us, the TAF boosters/Season ticket holders a cent?

Say Les Miles quits tommorrow and we hire a coach for half his salary. Do you think ticket prices will go down?

No. They are based on market rates. LSU will always charge the absolute max. If the coach costs less, the surplus will be used for something else.

So, perhaps I phrased it wrong. Paying a coach more or less will not cost you more or less. You are already paying what the market will bear.

Predict Johnny Jones' salary He made about $400,000 at North Texas and I can't see paying him more than double that to keep the program in an abyss.

I'm looking at it like this: Pay him well and if he doesn't work out move on to a coach worth around that money. The reason being is if we pay him crap then any big name that would want to come here will not be interested. Paying a low salary will just create a viscous cycle. This is assuming he doesn't do well. I certainly hope he does.

Wow...I'm beginning to think everyone who posts here must do so after getting hammered off the red label they bought at the convenience store next door.

What big name coach did you guy's miss out on? I've dropped by for the last 2 yrs. because UNT played y'all both years. TJ was the worst coach LSU could have and did have in recent memory and y'all are throwing one of your own, JJ under the bus with him. Be grateful that TJ has done to the basketball powerhouse TCU is...LOL!!!

Be grateful, JJ wants to bring you and everyone in the LSU nation a national championship team!!! I only wish JJ had played ball at UNT. Rumor has it JJ was offered the Auburn job a year or 2 ago and turned it down to make his $440,000 to salary or $440,000 with incentives. Many in the UNT nation complained JJ was making to much money with us. However, JJ was the only high profile UNT coach that was winning.

As some have said let JJ make his money. JJ will bring LSU out of the abyss, win in the SEC, March Madness, who knows may get y'all back to final 4 or win a championship.

One thing is for sure JJ is a far better coach and recruiter than TJ. Y'all should thank your lucky star every night that TCU gave LSU the gift that keeps on giving.

A lot of our fan base is embarrassingly negative. Don't worry about it, Jones' personality has already won a lot of those fans over just in the 5 minutes he has been here. When he starts bringing names here, these guys will change their tune.

If pleasing personality meant jack shiite about results, Van would still be coaching the women's team.

Have you read anything about Jones? What about recruiting? Does recruiting mean Jack Shiite about results? Give the guy a chance. He is coming in with all the recruiting avenues open, something that hasn't been at LSU for Basketball in a long time.
