I am OK with a very brief non denominational prayer asking for Good competition, sportsmanship, and good health for the players. Check me in the no column for a prayer before each class.

You’re missing the larger point.

Why do we even need to be having this discussion in the context of a football game?

It’s totally unnecessary. High risk, no reward for the institution and the brand.

No. One based on reason, rules and common sense.

There is no reason, rule, or common sense that can make a non-religious statement a religious one, no matter how bad you want it to be.

This particular discussion started with OP asking if we are ok with a religious prayer before games, even though that's not what happened.

What don't you understand. It is a losing case for LSU,

They will have to pay the plaintiff. They will have to pay the plaintiff's attorney fees (which will probably be over $1 million) and pay LSU's attorneys (which will probably be the same amount. That's at least $2 million.

Since it is the Athletic Department that is at fault and made the stupid decision to disregard the law, I wouldn't be surprised the powers that be make the Athletic Department pay and not the university or State.

$2 million loss to Athletic Department to make some people feel good on something that has nothing to do with football

False again

It is completely lawful to give a statement of gratitude. No deity was mentioned. It's amazing people are still posting their ignorance of this fact well after it's been posted repeatedly.
