The way our recruiting has gone the past few years, it seems like we will have a lot more flexibility in the type of schemes we run.

We have stout DT (Davenport/Brokers) and we have penetration DTs (Freak/Downs).
We have big DEs (Ego/CA) and rush DEs (ADams/Monty) and we even have some LB/DE Hybrids (Mingo/Randle/Maclin)

Wouldn't be surprised to see some 3/4 fronts

We dont have the linebackers to run a 3-4, at any point.

I'd maybe like to see a 3/4 package on 3rd down with fast players in the Olb positions. Maybe backup safeties

Has Chavis ever run a 3/4? If not, then dont count on it.

Why would any SEC team run a 3-4 defense? This is definitely a run-heavy league whether it be by spread option or pro style. 3-4 in this league is no bueno.

Early in the season we had a pretty good package where i think maybe Sam and mingo stood up or mingo was standing and came off the end. it worked pretty well. I think we sorta got away from it later int he season.

I would.
A) we've never run a 3/4 like you speak of
B) Contrary to your belief, we do not have the personnel for a 3/4. We do for a 4/3.

After 1998, I never want to see a 3-4 again.

Those 11 DL demand we run a 4-3.

Why would you ever want just 3 of them on the field, especially after our best LB just left the team?

You dont run a 3-4 when you're short on LBs

Good point, and they are very successful at it too. I should have have looked at facts before assuming something wouldn't work.

With the speed rushers we have at DE in a 4-3 set, we could put the big bodies on the line, and drop the ends as OLBs. Then you don't have a shortage of LB's. All you really need is two ILBs.

I guess. I just think it would be cool having Mingo as a stand up rush LB. He might actually be able to rip someone's head off from a sprinter's stance coming off the end...
