Sure, there are politics in sports to a certain extent. That can't be helped.

That said, what we have witnessed this week with Landry is beyond the pale. Nearly a century ago, Huey Long meddled in LSU sports, primarily football, and it wasn't pretty. Yes, Long did many good things to help put LSU on the national map; however, meddling in sports usually never turns out well.

Seems to me that Landry is trying to emulate Long in this regard, and he looks foolish and incompetent. I stated previously on this board that It seems to me Landry has more important and pressing matters to deal with in a state that consistently ranks near the bottom in so many important categories.

Landry is clearly not thinking of the negative implications of his actions and behavior. It only adds to negative views of Louisiana that many across the nation already possess.

Governor, get the hell out of sports and let the LSU Board do its job.

The irony being athletes love to assert their views on politics, yet want it kept out of sports. It's abundantly clear that those involved in sports don't want politicians getting involved because it may bring accountability to something rampant in corruption

And the Board is appointed by the Governor. So basically STFU.

The BOS is involved in running the university first and foremost. The sports program is something they really don’t like to get involved with,…..until they are dragged in. Like now.

That’s why they hire an AD for a fortune by most people’s standard. But when an AD starts screwing up……

Oh my sweet summer child. Just because they don’t announce it to the world doesn’t mean it’s not happening. And it does.
