This. JJ tends to hold the ball long resulting in sacks, the quicker the release the better the offense to deal with the Gump defense and in this case JL would win hand down.

Yeah, but don't be naive man. Bama has the personnel AND the coaching to limit what we do better than anyone in the country. Why else do you think JJ has been the starter these last two years? Why was he reinstated this quickly if he sucked so bad? Bama is no West Virginia.

Because CLM was chicken out of all the pick 6s that JL made, but JL is a different QB now with a QB rating of near 150 compared with a QB who was ranked near the bottom last year.

So CLM wouldn't have to deal with him again next year. JJ would ride the bench and does the V formations at game ends.

"Playing into our hands. JL is at his best when he has to get the ball off quickly. His pocket awareness/presence is bad. They might rough him up a little, but the receivers, TE most notably, will beat the coverage 90% of the time. I'm more worried about them stopping our power running game. That's where the game will be won or lost. NOT passing." 90%!!!? Are you kidding me? JL's greatest asset is his accuracy, but you better believe he will get "roughed up a little" and the officials won't call a thing. I'm more worried about him getting hurt or throwing a costly pick than them stopping our running game, which they will do enough times to make JL throw it.

I agree that JL is a BETTER qb, but not a different one. The rest of this is just silly.

haha look at this ranter. the thread of JL throwin the ball is much better for our rushing attack than the thread of JJ running

it is going to be a very physical game. They are going to bring the heat on Lee and he is going to take some hits. We are going to need JJ in those type situations if not sooner.

JJ did nothing for our offense except cause the defense to focus on our running game even more. we need someone that can throw the ball

I bet the Gumps are licking their chops, can't wait to see JJ to come in to attack their stacked box. CLM may try him for one option play to see if it work but no more than that because the play would fail right at the moment JJ steps into the playing field; JJ would become a marked man for the Gump defense to focus on.

i'd rather bring in mettenberger than JJ. but i could live with it if we had a play set up for a close game where on 2nd and 8 if we came up a yard short Lee faked an injury, then on 3rd and one we had JJ come in and first play off the bench just throw a bomb. otherwise he's useless to me. we have RBs to run the ball

"JJ did nothing for our offense except cause the defense to focus on our running game even more. we need someone that can throw the ball" Good point. JJ was a reluctant and wildly inconsistent passer. But to say he did nothing is a bit inaccurate. Teams that can stop the run can make any offense one dimensional, the same way we've done to our opponents this year. If a designed qb run is well executed the play almost never gets stopped for negative yardage. No one has beaten Bama by throwing more than 22 times in more than 3 years. If you can make them think you're throwing when you're actually running, then you create an advantage. A running qb is one of the best way to accomplish this because he cannot be accounted for. I'm in no way saying JJ should start against bama or anyone else, but at some point in that particular game he may be our best option.

Do you really believe that? JJ had over 700 yds rushing last year. He's no Cam Newton but no defense wants to worry about defending a 6"5 qb that can run. Granted, he's not what we wanted him to be, but this is why Donte Hightower said that LSU fans really don't appreciate Jordan Jefferson.

This team can obviously handle adversity and distractions and still win. With that said, I don't believe JJ's return brings either. If you do, see first sentence. So either you want to add depth and a senior qb to the team or you don't. I choose the former. Don't look a gift horse in the month.
