Well if I'm the AD, I'm not going to blame Trent Johnson for not being able to recruit top talent to LSU. Why would a top player want to come here if that's the type of atmosphere they will be playing in front of?
This team has taking their lumps, worked hard, and gotten better. A little bit of vocal support would be good for them.

But why don't you want to cheer for the basketball team?
I don't see how you came to this conclusion. The students around my area cheered just as hard as anyone else in the pmac when there was something worth cheering for.

DUDE, if you don't go to the fricking games yourself. STFU ! At least these people GO TO THE GAME, more than you can say !
One day, you'll be the head of a family with young children yourself and you'll understand that making every LSU weeknight event isn't possible. You see, my kids have their own activities that takes up much of my time.
But thanks for the advice.

So you only cheer after big football plays in TS? What about on defense? Do you sit on your hands and do nothing while the other team has the ball?

The seats behind the goals suck. I'd be down there if we still had midcourt seats.

You can thank LSU for that one... I don't mind the seats behind the goal, but LSU claimed the move was to get students "closer to the action"
What it really was, was LSU realizing, hell we could charge a lot of money for those courtside seats we are currently making $0 on.

How bout the one or two times in the final 7 minutes of the game that we were clinging to a 6-7 point lead, and Stringer and Turner were knocking down threes? That would be a good time to get up out of your seat and make some noise to cheer on the LSU defense. Kind of like a big 3rd down play in football.
It has to start somewhere. Most of the times, it's the student section that the rest of the crowd feeds off of. LSU baseball has a unique crowd in which even the older crowd energizes the team. I don't know the answer, but there has to be some way for the people that are at the games to actually get involved.

No..... i meant i cheer when we make a basket or play good defense and all the shite everyone cheers for. Just like anyone else.
I would say most students like myself just feel awkward behind the basket cheering with the group of kids who get to the section before anyone else can. So we choose to do our cheering in other places.

Once again, I'm not trying to place blame on the 20-30 students that are trying their best. I'm not even trying to place blame solely on the students. I'm just saying that the PMAC is a very lame crowd right now.

So you think that Duke, Florida, Missouri, and Ohio State have reserved seating in the student section?

I agree with you.. and I've been to every game besides a couple of crappy OOC ones for those playing that angle.

You're preaching to the choir here, man. You should be more concerned with getting people to ATTEND the games, not bitching about the students at the game.
More students will eventually equal a less dorky student section.
A less dorky student section will equal a louder, more exciting atmosphere for the whole place.

I love how the basketball passionate students= dorky but
the students who paint up, wear costumes to football games, etc=hardcore football fans.

Nobody gives a shite if you have a family and can't come to the games. Just don't come here after and bash the crowd and base your entire view on one game you actually went to.
I haven't missed a home game this year so I'm sorry but I think my opinion on the matter means a little more than yours.
While our crowds aren't the largest, they have usually been very energetic this year. This game wasn't representative of how things have been this year.

I nominate you to lead all the "cool" kids in a big cheer for the home team. Take the lead. The only dorks in this world are the followers.

I'll bring it up in the next cool kid meeting.
Posted on 2/22/12 at 11:38 pm to massiveattack
Good answer! You can do it...we are counting on the cool guys to make it cool to cheer again at the PMAC.

Still dorks FWIW. Its just like he said. There are a hell of alot more football fans, so they don't tend to dominate the scene quite as much.
