I posted this in the other thread

Not saying I disagree with his rotational decisions in the tournament, but.........
baseball is a very weird game and, perhaps more than any other sport, play on the field can really mirror the emotions of the coach.
I think PM is just too nervous a guy, and it reflects in big games/series. Too many times it almost feels like he called the team to a meeting at 1:30 in the morning the night before the game to discuss turn 2 scenarios and really imprint how important tomorrows win is to the rest of their lives.

Right now you probably realize how stupid the reference to Houston was. CPM was criticized for leaving the pitcher in too LONG.
In our two CWS games this week our two aces struggled in early innings. CPM had to decide whether to pull guys with lots of arm left, or to stay with them. He stayed with both. The one who was pitching great fell apart, and the one who was struggling settled down. Coaching isn't easy, buddy.

it really is that simple. NO ONE, except some fans, can predict the future. there is no magic formula for pulling a pitcher, esp one that hasn't thrown that many pitches.
there are some fans that always KNOW BEST after the fact. of course, if Poche' had settled down and pitched great these fans would have had another bitch (if we still lost).
lastly, a point no one has made is that if LSU had not imploded and we were involved in a tight game, the TCU coach would not have pulled his starter. the way he was dominating our hitters it is likely we wouldn't have scored but one run.

No, I disagree with you, OP.
Any fan has the right to criticize any coach's decision, but, to suggest that a coach panics, freezes or otherwise isn't mentally capable of coaching is not a fair criticism, IMHO.

In Highschool my senior year we had 11 starting seniors. 9 starters in the field and 2 pitchers. We dominated the year losing one game (on the Saturday MORNING after prom) We averaged over 12 runs a game. Two days before the first round of the playoffs my coach switched the batting order up and moved guys around in the field. He also didn't start our Ace. We lost to a team we would have beat badly 99 times out of 100. It simply was we lost all our momentum. Felt like the swagger we had built all year long had to start over. Anyways our coach lost that game before it started and the one loss we had for scheduling a game at 10 am the day after prom (haha) just like Pawl did Sunday period. Anyone that says a coach can't lose a game has never played sports.
