The student section capacity is 14,600, which is about 14.5% of the stadium, which is less considerably less than one/fifth.
The average number of students who bothered to show up per game last year was about 8500 (that number comes from another post...can't find it at the moment..but it is accurate). Given that number, the stadium is actually about 8% full of students....slightly less than one-fifth.
so almost 85% of the stadium is people like you, yet the student section is responsible for 95% of the noise, it's where the players go to celebrate, and on average they stay longer.....
Yet you fricking pricks think they need to "shape up"

So you're a joke the. Got it.

The one poster said the stadium is one-fifth full of students. The numbers show other wise.
And he definitely said that the 1/5 was an exact figure

You can't even be a pompous arse correctly, maybe you should stop.

TGBFTL actually played the old "ha ha ha haaa" version of Tiger Rag Saturday night. It sure would be great to hear them play it, along with Neck in our """""""""""OWN"""""""""" stadium..
OP, you see, it doesn't matter- you can beg, plead,be diplomatic, ask nice, even appeal to their intellect (so-called), but all they want to do is hear themselves chant and titter to each other like kindergartners. They don't CARE about school pride, or even their own pride for that matter. They would rather embarrass the very school they go to, the school that they purport will ready them for a career, than enjoy and revel and honor over a Century of some of the most historic CFB traditions in the country. And that is truly sad.

I like Shinedown

Synchronized, eh? So when you were a student, sound traveled at a different speed than it does now? There's a reason the clapping is (and was) off point. It's physical laws, not the quality of the student section. You were probably just too drunk as a student to notice
I understand this, but to say this hasn't gotten worse over time is incorrect.
If everyone would just slow the clap down instead of randomly speeding up, it would be more on point. Halfway through the pregame walk on the field, the clap has already over with due to being too fast and ending.
It is bad all around the stadium, but I sit near the students and it's the worst there. For the record, I like sitting near the students. It is a great atmosphere to be near them. I just want it to improve back to when it was at its peak.

What's truly sad is people like you.

So every single generation before them that has had vulgar chants didnt disgrace the university but instead honored it?
I swear you old "everything was better back in the day" idiots are worse than the students.

relax bro, the whole clapping this is irrelevant anyway because once the students get their fast clap out of the way, they (like the rest of the stadium) clap in beat & time with the band...so just wait 10-15 seconds and then it corrects itself

Let me guess. It was at its peak when you were a student?

Neither of those were inadvertent. Corso had a "I just don't give a **** (oh, there is that nasty word again) moment, and Pappi said exactly what he wanted to say.

You mean I'm "sad" because I would like to hear TGBFTL play decades-old traditional songs without having 20 year olds with the minds of two year olds let the entire country see how patheic LSU students are??? That kind of sad ???
I hope you wind up on welfare...

While i agree with a lot of what you have to say, you have a solid old man back in my day approach that does not reach anyone other than your bridge club.

It has not changed since my first game as a twelve year old in 1982. People clap based on what they hear, and since sound bounces around the stadium it becomes a cluster frick pretty quickly.
Of ALL the things to complain about, this is actually the silliest...by far.

First and foremost. Go frick yourself. My disagreeing with your opinion makes you hope I get on welfare? The internet may not be for you if you're so sensitive that a simple message takes you there.

Do these decades old songs (of which Neck isn't one BTW) include Tiger Rag? When you were a student did you not participate in any of the vulgar chants?

You realize songs like Tiger Rag was "ruined" years and years ago right?
You realize this has been going on for decades to these "old traditional songs" that you are blaming the current students for, right?
Who the frick am i kidding of course you dont understand that

I do wish the kids would stay until the end, but the world has changed in that respect in most things.

shite I dont agree with everything the majority of them do even when I was a student. But blaming the students for every single thing is getting old

I've e-known you for a long time, Metry...so you know I come from a good place in all this. But what song are we missing based on some newfound vulgarity?
One of my first memories of Tiger Stadium was the band playing Tiger Rag and the fans, loudly, chanting HA HA HA HA HA and pointing towards the visiting section and hollering a-hole! a-hole!
This was 1982.
Neck is an idiotic CAMEO song that got started about a decade ago...which honestly ought to have run it's course by now.
What are we talking about here?

If you're talking about the actual percentage of students in the stadium at any given time, it's the only number that's relevant.
And which numbers? Do 8500 show up for Troy or for Bama? Or is the student section filled for Bama but not Troy? If that were that case, students would be be behaving like the rest of the population.
