Was just reading through a couple different depth charts, looking at the rosters, and listening to a few pod cast that have been going over the positions as of late. A few guys are getting a lot of talk, but also a lot of guys seem to get not mention. Have you heard anything or what do you predict for the few guys listed below?

Ray Thornton
Andre Anthony
Jamal Pettigew
Ray Parker
Devonta Lee
Soni Fonua
Jontre Kirklin
Eric Monroe
Micah Baskerville
Cameron Lewis

Also interested in seeing how much playing time Ali Gaye gets

A lot of these guys came in pretty high touted. Interesting that some didn’t get much playing time yet. Some are still young and have time to develop. Anyone else you think has underperformed. We have a lot of talent coming in. I could see some guys leaving in the transfer portal soon.

I personally wouldn’t call Cam Lewis, Baskerville in that “not performing” category. Lewis played pretty significant minutes at Safety down the stretch, and Baskerville has been behind the likes of Devin White, Patrick Queen and Jacob Phillips since he got in college. I expect both to play a good amount this upcoming season

Edit: the biggest mystery since Trindon Holiday not being a DE is why Eric Monroe can’t seem to get on the field

In fairness, Lee and Parker are only entering their second year with the program.

I have no inside knowledge, but once the team gets back and the pecking order gets set, I expect at least a couple of those to hit the portal.

Yea I was more concerned with how their position changes were coming.

Thought it kinda funny that Parker went from Defense to TE and TK went from TE to DE

I know some of them have been special team players and done well there.

I think Monroe has had a few injuries and not been in good conditioning as of late. Dude was a stud coming out of high school though.

Eric Monroe has not been the same since his injury; too bad bec he was a 5 Star Safety,

Baskerville came up big vs Vandy

Ray Thornton - I think he has a good year
Andre Anthony - I think he has a good year (edited: I was thinking of Travez Moore)
Jamal Pettigew - How is this guy still on the team?
Ray Parker - I think he has a good year
Devonta Lee - He's changed positions and both are already pretty crowded
Soni Fonua - he wasn't highly touted
Jontre Kirklin - Promising at WR, but also a stacked position
Eric Monroe - Just not very good
Micah Baskerville - He had some solid competition at that position over th eyears
Cameron Lewis - Just not very good

Coach O mentioned Anthony as someone to look for on a recent Podcast.

Maybe I'm letting my own memory influence my thoughts on the entire Tiger fanbase, but I would bet that 90% of LSU fans couldn't tell you which guy is #43 and which is #46. The amount of times I have seen their names separately is very small. They always seem to be mentioned together every spring as potential difference makers.

Ray Thornton - was undersized for a 3-4 edge spot, but not athletic enough for a ILB spot. Needs to beef up to play 4-3 end

Andre Anthony - More of a 4-3 end but has been stuck behind talented guys at OLB his entire career. Could possibly have a breakout year.

Jamal Pettigrew - Injury plagued career

Ray Parker - Too small to play OL, not athletic enough to play TE

Devonta Lee - will thrive at ILB

Soni Fonua - depth guy

Jontre Kirklin - talented but has better guys in front of him

Eric Monroe - injury plagued career

Micah Baskerville - has played significant minutes but has always had more talented guys in front of him

Cameron Lewis - see Baskerville

Monroe is the most disappointing but that was because of injuries.

Really think he will have a good senior year. Figure he will start by then.

Trindon Holiday at DE, was that an actual thing people were discussing because people thought that he might have been fast and short enough to run by/under tackles? That's what I'm assuming anyway, or did you mean DB?

Perhaps it’s because he’s 6’6, 260 and a year removed from a serious knee injury? People like you are what stinks about this site.

Baskerville has missed a lot of tackles during his playtime. If he corrects this , I think he will be extremely solid. He is very the Ted and seems to be in the right place most times. He also seems to have good ball instincts. He just needs to put people in the ground when he makes contact.

I wasn’t knocking his ability, I just feel like he’s been on the team for 10 years

I am pretty sure they both went from TE to DE.

Parker was a high school TE expected to fill out to an OT who came in having lost weight and then moved to defense.
