fricking tournament up!!!

LINK

Just one time in my life, I would love to see LSU win this fricking final 4. It seems like it’s the hardest championship to win, and damn I’d love to live to see it!

Epic if the players went through warm ups then all kneel, refuse to play and go on strike right at tip off.

I don’t think it will happen, but I could see some bigger names sitting out...

that's a red flag IMO for down the road. Contract year, don't like my contract or want a trade, refuse to play. Who cares about winning a championship, imma get mine

“Think you can definitely be grateful to play this game while also understanding there’s more that should be on the table,” Baker responded in a tweet. “Players ISOLATED entire year to help make this tournament happen. NCAA: rewarded w/ $900 million. Players: rewarded w/ free deodorant and small boxed meals.” Afterwards, another Twitter user even offered to send Baker some food while he and the team are at the tournament and he responded with another dig at the NCAA.

“Nah man that’s what the NCAA would call a violation you giving me free food because of my name is against NCAA rules,” Baker tweeted. “My name image and likeness belongs to them. But any Rutgers kids on full academic scholarship with names not owned by NCAA can surely get some though!”

I’m not at all a fan of the university or the ncaa “paying” Players in any sport personally, but them not being able to sell their name, image, and likeness is retarded. I also think if they want to sell their school shite they should be able to as well, it’s their possession they can do what the hell they want with it.

Not really. No one forced them to go to college. Especially in basketball, where you can go straight to pro leagues out of high school.

So many downvotes and not one person wants to make an argument why?

While in theory, i agree, good god this is a dangerous move. Players going to go to schools in bigger cities now? To market themselves? Or kids going to transfer to schools in larger cities?

If there was some way to tie “payments” for likeness sales to graduation, then it would be a win win. Otherwise, you are going to see a long list of unintended consequences.

The only change i am fully in favor of would be similar to one that the nfl made not too long ago. The nfl created a rookie salary chart (for lack of a better term), but then used those savings to medical coverage of ex-players. The ncaa should Ofer some limited coverage for kids not making it to a next level. One threat of the ncaa losing their tax free status would force them to offer this limited medical insurance.

They have a point. Think they are using the big platform to call attention and put pressure on the ncaa. I dont blame them. Wouldnt bother me at all if lsu was one of the teams

Not really. They are free to cash in on their name and play elsewhere whenever they feel like it. The idea that the NCAA is an academy for professional leagues is misguided.

This doesn't even begin to touch women's collegiate athletics which would also want the same time of treatment even though every single university loses money each year from women's sports.

Oh, I'm sure they are sponsoring, promoting and championing the whole thing. I bet the daily opinion shows are all about it.

STUDENT ATHLETES

There is a Professional league for every sport and some have some sort of minor league for those that need to refine their skills.

No athletes do not need to get paid, those that can play in the big time let them go and make their money.

Once you start opening pay to play or getting boosters to pay for their likeness then the schools will cheat and circumvent the system and best not to go there.

The NCAA needs to stand firm and let the players that want to unionize go for it and shut down programs for a year and not let the kids go to school

Every player on the team is given free meals the entire year. (Perhaps the walk ons dont get free meals on campus)

The fact that tens of thousands of kids every year continue to sign up to play under this model would lead most objective people to believe that maybe they are getting something of value or some benefit out of it. But that’s never mentioned in all of these slave labor horror stories.
