okay my point is: do you not miss blowing teams out like vandy and washington?
Though they are by no stretch the imagination great, both of those teams are BCS schools one of them won a Bowl last year.
The issue you have is that you think this team has the same talent and experience as the 2007 team which is clearly not the case

thank you, i agree with hiding some of your plays for bigger teams, but come one. when you actually throw your players out there, will it be too late? you need to get them experience now

On the middle of the 1st page, Geauxtiga links a thread discussing some opinions that are consistent with yours and differ from yours.
There have been games where playcalling gets a little stale and there are too many runs up the middle, I guess out of misguided pride that Miles feels that LSU can impose their will on the other team. That being said, this past game was not one of those games, so these comments don't ring true.
In the first half, there were a variety of formations and a mix of play calls, including runs inside and out, and short and long passes. And many different skill players were utilized. The play calling was very diverse and not predicatable. For whatever reason, it wasn't always effective, but that is a different argument, and if they continue calling plays the way they did this past game, I'm sure everything will come together.

tmon, your making excuses for this years team, we are lsu, we are used to dominating teams, i disagree playing down to these sub-par teams

I completely understand being conservative with Jefferson at this point, especially considering the inclimate conditions Saturday. But I honestly believe the WR screen was used a bit much.JMHO.

we dont throw the ball down field, we don't use our new talent like we should, we play soft defense which i hate more than anything this year

Did you sleep through last year?

read the thread linked earlier in this thread with multiple play calls in the game last night where we threw the ball down the field

Who does throw the ball down field in rainy weather?

I personally think that this team is still trying to find it's identity. We did a better job than last week, and will improve before our next game. I am in know way worried about our play calling. We did a great job of rotating different personal in the game. Once Jefferson is ready they'll take the pass plays up to the next level. He's clearly not.

I would just like to point out that it is only the second game of the season and we have outscored our opponents in both games

quit hiding behind love for les miles, there comes a point where our talent is getting the shaft by horrible coaching, does nobody believe this?
YES!!!!!

During our back-to-back "3 and Outs" in the 3rd qtr it was frustrating to see Vandy load the box and us run Chuck North/South on 1st downs with the same result (0 yds). Not bashing, just frustrating to watch.
There were 2 or 3 '3 and outs' in the 3rd-- on at least 2 of them, if not all of them, we passed on first down, and probably averaged 2/3 passing plays in each of those series. I do not recall any carries by Charles Scott in the 3rd when we bogged down. I do recall incomplete passes downfield and also quick passes to the sideline which went nowhere. That is different from what you're saying.

So by yalls ruling Pete Carol and the USC staff are the worst coaches in college football.

steveLSU, your completely right, it will take awhile to find our way to play this season, i know lsu will be good and i know we have great talent, the only thing i was trying to point out is i dont agree with the way we're using our talent. Many people try to hide behind the purple and gold glasses, face the facts! our coaching staff is not giving us the right plays to win the way we should, MAINLY ON DEFENSE!

What have they done in the past differently that they aren't doing this year?

Same was said about Pelini and Muschamp in their first 2 games...the defense gave up a TD and 210 yards, while holding Vandy to 4/15 on 3rd down

playing smash-mouth defense, teams were always scared of our defense when they came into death valley, now we're soft, would you be scared?

YOUR MAKING EXCUSES!!!! we usually kill teams like vandy! quit trying to hide behind it

Are you serious???
It has been 2 games under a completely new system after our D was infected by Mallory/Peveto last season.
No one could have fixed it over night
