Hey folks; let's not forget the amount of gratitude we owe Pitt for the 2007 upset of West Virginia. Of all the things that had to happen that 1st weekend in December 2007, this was the most improbable. I think Pitt was what, 2-10 on the season and 20 point dog, on the road no less.
I'll never forget interview/coloquey between Brent Mush-burger and ESPN-LSU hater (what's his damn name) discussing probable final 2 BCS contenders and Brent mentioned LSU and (what's his name) says: "nah, not a chance after the Arkansas loss"!
We've had an awful lot to gripe about the last 10 years, but 2007/2008 BCS Championship was very special and a rare occasion where everything fell our way!!!

Herbstreet = "what's his name". Jerk. Not sure that wasn't the origin of his animus towards LSU.

Admittedly, this is completely sour grapes but I hope LSU gets shut out every single game next season.

Eff him.

You can start to see the decline in the "we'll be fine" posts by the end of the 3rd page.

Like others, I hope LSU's offense is another big turd. Might be small of me but I just can't wish a guy success who stabbed Pitt in the back.

Could be wrong but regardless of whether or not LSU offers, I think Canada stays at Pitt. Clearly, hes going to LSU to "listen" to what they have to say. He'll use that the renegotiate his Pitt agreement and get more money from Barnes. I think some of the savngs from cutting JD loose will go to upgrading and keeping the assisstants and HCPN Happy.

To be fair, using an opening at LSU to negotiate more money from your current employer has worked for others.

Unrelated to anything really, but the Pitt throw backs were hot fire this year

I doubt that it's all about the money though. This guy knows that it's a huge jump in talent that he will be coaching not to mention the killer competition that he will be facing against some of the SEC defenses. Turning LSU's O around, especially in November, would put him in a great position to take whatever next step he desires in his career.

Pitt had 9 possibly 10 starters who will at least get a cup of coffee in NFL.
4 O line will be top 3 round picks, 2 this year alone(and an OT next year who some are saying is a top 10 guy). COnner, All american at WR. very solid blockers at FB and NFL caliber TE. The talent is unappreciated that he had there, some have read this in another thread, and a lot likely just want to say 'nope, no way' but its true.

LSU obviously recruits better and overall will have better talent on a yearly basis. But not really than what he had last year at the moment.

Canada has gone on record I found early before the season on the fan site PittsburghSportsNow, his main goal is to become a Head Coach. He is 44 years old so needs to get moving on that.

He had an unbelievable year, dont get me wrong he did well all over but nothing like what he did at pitt (which like i said, was perfect storm of talent there).

LSU gives him an opportunity to get that HC job at a lower p5 school really, something like his home town team indiana etc ro a stellar season, maybe even better. if he had another similar year at pitt sure he would, but likely an akron or kent state, etc.

So of course the big money is a major factor but , its a fastrack to a better HC job as well.

not to mention the killer competition

#2 Clemson
#5 PSU
#12 OSU
#22 VT
ORV GT, Miami, UNC

not knocking the schedule of anyone but, LSU schedule next year does not look like that.

Reminds me of the Houston boards regarding Herman in the middle of the season.

I fully respect your assessment and all BUT Pitt's 2016 offensive players are not likely to have better NFL careers LSU's 2016 offensive players.

In a nutshell, the only position that I see Pitt being better at than LSU in OT(I am one of the minority that likes our QB on this board). I know that it's hard to believe with the shoddy offensive production for most of the year but that is why Les was fired. I will be happy to debate each position with you if ya like.

As for your top twenty list... we are the ones who usually are showing off our strength of schedule. Heck, even in what seems to be the worst year for the SEC in a good while, LSU's SOS thus far this year is 13'th while Pitt's is outside of the top twenty.

Again, I respect Pitt and all but LSU is a step up in talent and competition.

Whatever happened to Pitt anyway? Seems like they were always producing top players - Tony Dorsett, Dan Marino and a ton of others. And seems like they used to go toe to toe with Penn State on the regular when Penn State was a power

Did they go downhill when Jackie Sherrill started coaching there? LOL!

I'll work for $65,000 a year. My references are from the high powered world of "semi-pro" (which is a nice way to say adult amateur) football -- and even better, women's football. And currently, 7th-8th grade boys basketball. No one can top a resume like this. H2P

I hope everything is finalized with Canada. If Alleva sees this post he might go for it

Jackie Sherill did damn good at Pitt as his teams finished in the Top 5 at least 3 times in 5 years there. (1977-81). His 1980 team ended up #2 in the nation. So, to the lazy poster who spouts off without researching the facts, those are your facts.
