Secondly the lineup allowed him to be in that position
Saves are by definition impossible without being put in position.
How many saves did he blow fella?

Mariano Rivera was a SS but signed a contract out of panama as a reliever

If its all about Micah and our lineup, then why doesnt every pitcher on our staff have a stat line like Ott?

That allowed Ott to go right after hitters.
Yet another contradiction. You were concerned about the number of hits he gave up, but now are saying he could afford to "go right after" hitters.

I can't find blown saves on lsusports.net. However he lost 2 games so I can assume probably atleast two.

And your beloved Trevor Hoffman was drafted as a SS/3B but actually transitioned into a closer while in the minors

Clown when did I say anything about position players transitioning to pitching? Never I said you don't find college relief pitchers going far in the MLB.
Posted on 2/14/10 at 6:04 pm to WestCoastTigah
No...you said "if you arent a starter in college your career is on a dead end street"
Posted on 2/14/10 at 6:06 pm to clownbaby
Ifyou aren't a stRter in college Nd continue on the pitching route in the pros yes. I didn't say anything about position players.
What I mean by that is if you are a pitcher already in college.

Brain Wilson, Jonathan Papelbon, Joe Nathan, and Mariano Rivera would disagree with you.
I left Houston Street off that list because you admitted you didnt get that one right.
I also left off Hoffman, and Marmol because they transitioned AFTER they were drafted (even though they didnt start in college I would say it worked out well for both of them)

Incorrect. Neither of those were save situations.
Did you watch any games last year?

This is to lsutool.
That is because of the unique role of the closer. A starting pitcher cannot pitch 100% from the onset of the game otherwise he won't last more than 3 innings. A closer with that piece of mind is unstoppable.

I went to every home game, CWS game, and the rest I watched on geauxzone. I don't remember specifically how many blown saves he had if any.

So Bradshaw, Ross, Bertuccini, Byrd, and all of our staff could have done what Ott did if given the opportunity?
Why do you think Manieri gave the opportunity to Ott before all of the upperclassman releif guys?
Posted on 2/14/10 at 6:14 pm to LsuTool
Because he needed to give the freshman some mound time in hopes that this year he turns into the starter he was projected as.

When you need to give a guy mound time, you put him in the 7th inning of a blow out. He became the closer because he was effective as the closer, not to be evaluated further.

Ok, what about the other question?
Posted on 2/14/10 at 6:17 pm to ProjectP2294
No he stuck him as the closer because it was obvious from the start he wasn't going to fulfill a starting pitching role.
