I don’t think I’ve seen so many breaking balls called in a row in high leverage situations especially for bullpen arms. Multiple occasions with different pitchers. In situations where we can’t afford a walk. I’d rather see a fastball get hit 500 ft than watch walk after walk. The pitchers are having trouble with walks , but the pitch calling is definitely not helping things. Before someone tells me I don’t know better than the coaches, I agree, I’m an idiot and I can see the problem with this.

I didn’t get to watch the beginning of todays game, but last weekend the same thing happened with Little. Couldn’t locate the offspeed stuff , but kept on calling it. Walks suck the life out of a team. I wish they would challenge hitters more with fastballs. Make them hit it!!

They were out coached. That delay that rattled Floyd was magnificent. Shoulda tossed the coach.

At this level they are going to hit HR’s if they know the fastball is coming every time. Walks hurt you but you give up one run at most if you walk someone with the bases loaded.

The delay definitely rattled Floyd. He couldn’t locate anything after that. He went from lights to pitches so far out of the zone they weren’t competitive. It’s a shame he has the talent, but seems to melt down with control at times.

I understand that, but I’m talking about almost no fastballs called at all. It’s strange.

I just checked. 6 runs on only 2 hits in the first. Littles stuff is way too good to not be challenging these guys more.

Bad hitting teams can win with walks.

Little can’t locate anything. Jay probably has to find his car for him in the parking lot

Thanks
I didn’t see his outing today. Last week it was almost exclusively offspeed.

It’s the 3-0, 3-1 walks where LSU knows the take sign is on and they still can’t throw a strike that hurt then this weekend

We hardly ever call fastballs low in the zone. 2 years now, I’ve never seen an approach like that.

Skenes is the only guy allowed to challenge hitters. (For obvious reasons)

Seems everyone else is coached to throw dirt balls or out of the zone to limit contact. I dont agree with it but that seems the plan after watching all these guys missing the zone or seeing multiple curveballs called that aren't close to strikes.

You get zero outs with a walk. Your logic says just keep giving them one run every AB. If they hit you get outs or if you throw strikes maybe a strikeout?

No my logic was to say that it better to not always throw fastballs every time it’s a predictable fastball count. I wasn’t advocating for walking people. Sometimes it hurts you less to walk someone than to give up a three run HR.

Most accurate statement I've read on here in a while!

They probably can't get the fastball over the plate either.
