Anyways, I can't tell you how glad we were to get rid of Crowton. He was pretty solid his first season at UO, but he just fell flat on his face after that. We became very predictable on offense and it was very frusturating to watch.

This is why he sucks so bad. When fans at home can call the plays before they are run. What the hell does he think opposing DC's will do. This is why the trick plays work so well for LSU, no one knows when or how they are coming. They just don't run enough of them.

So Crowton had no clue what he was doing and called Chip? Who is he calling now?

Lou Tepper. It's the only offense his drop linebacker could stop.

If you read the whole article Crowton never ran the spread before 2006. Oregon's head coach sent him out to learn it from Mullen/Meyer. Mullen told him to ask Chip Kelly, which is why he would have questions every week, and call him. His questions were during the 2006 season, the first year Crowton was asked to learn the spread. You can't learn something like the spread in one Weekend.

With that being said, has he learned it since??? and I am not a GC fan btw.

So Crowton, when he came back he had some rough edges to the spread and he started calling Chip Kelly on Sundays saying, "This came up and I didn't quite know what to do with it." And Chip always had an answer.

This will work out great in next season's opener. Since Crowton has several years with this system under his belt , he doesn't have to play the game Sat. Nite to know what's wrong! He won't have to wait to Sunday to call Chip . Since they will both be in Dallas he can talk to him in person the Thurs. or Fri. before the game . Coach Gary: " OK explain that to me again. "

Amazing. He's taken every offense he's coached to rock bottom. He hasn't improved an offense at the same school once, this tells me he is a shitty coach who can't teach. Why is Miles keeping him??

Anyone that actually thinks this story is true is pretty fail. Crowton was running the spread for a long time before he got to Oregon. Meyer certainly didn't invent the spread. Oregon and Utah didn't play in 05. Crowton also suggested Kelly to Bellotti.

Tech and Oregon never hit rock bottom. Tech's offense improved every year. BYU was better his 1st year there than the previous. It was better in year 4 than it was in year 3. Oregon was better on offense in his 1st year than it was the year before. LSU was better his 1st year than the previous year. In year 4 the offense was better than in year 3. So yeah, he has improved offenses, just not enouh at LSU.

The story may be bullshite but I don't think Crowton was running the read option before he got to Oregon. I know he wasn't at Tech although he may have at BYU for all I know because I don't watch BYU football. And I certainly don't watch Chicago Bears football either. There is a difference between the spread(Leach football) and the read option.

I am uncertain as to the validity of this story. However, after reading it, I came to a conclusion that perhaps no one has considered....wouldn't it be nice to have this Chip Kelly guy down here?

no, and he doesn't even run a spread offense. he runs a spread option offense

rich rod likely invented the SO, but meyer was a big "mover and shaker" in its early years

Of course there is a difference, but he did run the option at BYU. I'm sure he has run something a little different everywhere he has gone, but he has always been a spread. Do we run a spread option or do we run a spread with some option plays in it?

So "The Wizard" isn't a wizard after all?
Wow, with two consecutive 100+ ranked offenses, I would have never guessed!
