Excuses not to go to the game:

Bad weather
Traffic
Have to park far away
DJ is annoying
Piped in music
Won’t support athletics with Alleva in charge
Concessions suck
Had to study for exams

Reasons to leave early:

Traffic
Have a kid with an early bedtime
Wanted to drink
DJ is still annoying...
Piped in music hurts my ears...
TigerDog gave me the shits

Reasons to go and not be an active crowd member:

‘I paid for this ticket and I can do as I please’
Geriatric
Lazy
Team isn’t winning, so why bother
We are a football/baseball school
DJ is annoying...so some crowd members will pout

Seriously...excuses for everything on here. Tiger Stadium used to get jacked up regardless of weather, concessions, lines at bathrooms, etc. If the team was decent, the fans would be loud. It’s not like the 2000 team was the GOAT. Hell, even 2008.

But those days are gone, and the attitude is infecting other sports experiences.

I know - it was horrible! I can’t tell you how much this fan apathy drives me nuts. I stood up, I’m clapping, I’m shouting - and btw I’m over 60 - so age shouldn’t be an excuse. Maybe they were fed up with me standing, but there were plenty of other places to sit, OR also stand and clap.
It shouldn’t matter how successful your team is, if you bothered to go to the game, why just sit there quietly? I think people just need to learn that you don’t have to wait for a dunk or a blocked shot to cheer. The point is to help the players get energized and excited so that they WILL score, block, steal etc.
The students were great, and I’m so glad they’re going to the games and getting loud, being silly, and enjoying themselves. It would’ve been like a morgue without them. So a big shout out to them

I don’t get it, I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s because I come from a soccer fan background??? Soccer games are loud, there’s energy, and the fan experience is tons of fun - a different culture I guess.
