VT is enjoying winning conference titles and uncontested BCS berths, for the most part.
Like they want to come scrap it up in the SEC, and drop to mediocrity.
I know the market is attractive to the SEC, but I can't see what VT would find enticing about losing a huge competitive advantage.

Out of all the teams, VTech, FSU or Clemson are worth the $20Million Dollar Buyout.
South Florida.....nah
WVU...............no thanks
Louisville........yuck
NC State..........try winning the ACC first
UNC...............one of the original 6 ACC members...won't happen
GTech............an original SEC member but same as NCSU
Vtech, Climpson, and FSU are the closest thing to an SEC atmosphere with good academics....yes, Climpson has good academics.

FSU would be my first choice

Uh, the SEC doesn't pay their buyout.

Is there any way for a conference to financially help a team with a buyout?
The conference would have no problem doing it with a $2Billion dollar contract with TV.

LOL wut?
You understand they're the ones that pay the buy out. No ACC team is going to pay 20 million dollars for what is in all honesty a lateral move outside of competitiveness.

we've played florida every year the past 40 years, screw that idea

If Joe Alleva allows that to happen he should be run out of BR.
I for one want LSU's permanent East opponent to be UF. Gotta play the best to be the best.

The SEC would NEVER engage a school that would require financial help to become a member.

the 14th team (WVU?)
I like about at least 8 teams much better than WVU for the 14th - FSU, South Florida, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Clemson, UNC, or Maryland.

There should be no such thing as a permanent opponent in the east for any west team and vice versa. Every team should rotate.

Agree that every team should rotate. If the SEC sticks to an 8-game conference schedule and a permanent cross-division game:
- 6 games within the division
- 1 permanent cross division game (likely UF for us)
- 1 rotating game meaning we would not play the other 6 East teams but every 11th and 12th year (presuming home and away series)! That sucks.
Need to have this instead:
- 6 games within the division
- 2 games across division in an off/on rotation
It's a better schedule in my opinion and more fair anyhow. BTW, I know the folks in Alabama would throw a fit but it's not their conference so I really don't care.

quote:Maybe there is some sentiment at UF to remove LSU from their schedule b/c LSU is too tough every year. I think a nice variation on this permanent opponent idea is to give the P-Opp. a 5-10 year span and then rotate to another. It would be fun to play UGA every year for a while, or USC or UT or UK - maybe not so much Vandy, but...
ust a Florida fan making stuff up to trash talk LSU.
