Easy ways exist to avoid threads you act as if you don't care about.

This would require logical thinking on the part of many on this board. Just as Rouge tries to view this from Murphy's perspective, which is fine, he should also think about this reasoning from the perspective you just posted.
I'm not a fan of the hire, but what's done is done.
All we can do is hope that she's a diamond in the rough, and that she can do great things with the talent that LSU has.
She doesn't warrant the same salary that a top coach would get until she's proven herself in the SEC.

Not avoiding. I can understand the passion for all things LSU but seriously how many on here go to SB games, know the players, know SB coaches from other schools? Just maybe a little premature to worry about if good or not hire.
I just think maybe we should let the AD make that decision. Support the new coach. Let time decide if good hire or not.
I've already stated that I don't have a clue about women's softball. But I still like our programs to have success and think I have something to add regarding a coaching search.

You do realize that you're on a message board, right?
The whole point of this place is for people to discuss events and topics.
So that's what's happening - people are voicing their opinions.
Sitting back and waiting until she retires, and THEN talking about here career really doesn't make for an interesting board.
If that were the case, then we should all stop talking about every LSU coach...and just wait and see how they wind up doing.

True. I hope that she can recruit, and I like the fact that she has ties to both Houston and Florida. Certainly the top talent is in Cali but it's emerging in TX and FL.

I'm holding my opinion until I see her coach.

Alleva did all he could here. Contacted the best coach in the Arizona guy, actually hired another elite coach, who ended up fricking him over.
I have no idea if this lady is any good, but kudos to Alleva for a thorough search.

I was hoping for Houston's coach.

I agree he did everything right the 1st time around, not so sure about the 2nd time. I refuse to believe this is the most qualified and accomplished candidate we could find.

Fair enough
I tend to believe he wouldn't just say frick it the 2nd time arous though

It seems like LSU gave up on trying to hire a top coach and just wanted to get the search over with.
Why didn't he throw some $$$$$$$$ out there like he did with Murphy and make a run at former coach Glenn Moore and ex-Tiger Brittani Sneed from Baylor?

"Just Softball"
If you're an L.S.U. Alumnus and/or really love the school, (And not just a fan of L.S.U. football) you should want ALL the athletic teams to compete for conference/national championships and for the best coaches possible to be hired regardless of sport.

104.5 reporting FIU's Beth Torina as LSU Softball Coach...
It's not that rumor started from joke thread made by a poster on tigerdroppings right after Murphy left. Think about it, it's one thing when Skip could name his terms with his successor because it was one of the best jobs in America and he was going to be AD, Yvette couldn't do that. Alleva certainly has no reason to give her camp money for nothing.
I'm the idiot that started that thread, and I even mentioned it was a joke in the thread when idiots started running with.

Joe Alleva said he didn't interview the Houston Coach-a former ULL'er who had Torino as a pitching coach-because she was "somewhat abrasive", and he didn't think it'd be a good fit.
The guy's interviewing people over the phone. Mailing shite in. I was not beating this guy up on this early. But connecting the dots here, Alleva's a complete fricking joke.

Yea I got it immediately but apparently many others bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Slam dunk hire.
Now you don't have to pay out of your arse like we are doing with women's basketball but still a solid coaching hire.

Should have hired Brittany Sneed if he was going to do that BS.

She has done 'OK' at FIU...'OK'...and now she gets one of the top programs in, arguably, the best softball conference in the country.
Like I said, I hope that she becomes the greatest softball coach that ever lived, but right now, that hiring seems a little odd considering who they were initially going after.
I am surprised as to the article indicating that Torina is a 'safe' hire...what the hell is that?? We go from offering the top softball salary to one of best coaches in the country to chicken feed for some upstart coach. Holas at Houston is abrasive?? WTF?? Does she win? Isn't that what this is all about, bringing in the BEST coach?? My question is, can someone (especially Mr. Alleva) prove to me that Torina is the BEST choice for LSU??
