It's a little tough to understand USC's line of thinknig here going after Mainieri. A 67 year old 3 year retired guy who clearly wasnt adapting to the game in his final years coaching.
Will be interesting to see what he can pull off in the portal because that will have to be his key to success there. USC is not pulling in top recruiting classes any more. (36th ranked for their 2024 class and their 2025 class is currently outside the Top 80....).
First portal haul for him looks pretty miserable outside of 1 position player and 1 pitcher. They took 9 transfers.
Its still very early but they appear to be a bottom 4 or 5 SEC team.
