going to college. Correct. They were still HS WR's.

So you're saying HS Sr. WR's that sign with D-1 schools are = to college WR's that have been there for 2-3 years?

Well, using common sense, I think we all know what he was talking about....

If he can take one corner and Hawk can do the other side...the defense will be the best in history of LSU...the DL should take some pressure off of them...and the safeties are more than solid!

at 6'1 205? That's pretty fast. I'm willing to bet he will be down to about 195 when the season starts and running that time. I be the's a 4.4 guy right now, which is still waaayyyyy faster than our CB's last year.

Come to think of it, Laron Landy was a wasted talent!

Ronnie Lott switched from CB to Safety as a pro.

You are pushing the limit at 200+ pounds at CB.

Two completely different guys. Actually Laron started at corner before moving to safety his freshman year (ETA: which is what I'm sure you're alluding to), but Patrick Peterson is a prototypical NFL cornerback. He's in the mold of Terrance Newman, although he's much farther along at this point in his career than Newman was at KSU.

From what I've heard he dominated every WR he went up against in all the football camps he attended. Therefore he completely shut down the best HS WR in the region.

I even remember a statement that there wasn't a WR that could get open once during any of the drills where he was the DB.

IMO, if you can shut down the best HS WR with that much dominance, you can start in the SEC. With a little guidance, this guy will easily be All-SEC and possibly All-American, and yes, I know he hasn't played a down yet.

Kids typically add weight as they mature after H.S. If he is already over 200 pounds coming out of H.S., there is a very good chance he out-grows the CB position.

You are a dumbass. Hes considered one of the best, maybe the best CB propect this decade and you are saying he will move to safety.

i think the question is if he can cover NFL WRs

and i'm being 100% serious

I'm certain that's one of the reasons he's at LSU - we just had two bookend corners go into the NFL draft, after starting nearly 6 years combined, as a tandem. He gets the opportunity to play against some of the very best, NFL prospect WRs in practice, and during league play and BCS Bowls. Three years and then the draft. I predict 2008 Freshman All-American, 2009 All-SEC, 2010 All-American and on the list for things like Thorpe, and maybe Nagurski, then the NFL.

I know it's early, but I had the some conviction about Michael Clayton - he's just had some struggles with his NFL career.

What are some potential receivers he will be covering? I don't think the teams that we play this season have great receivers
