Yeah i kind of asked for that but guess I meant more specifically. How involved were you at Millsaps? I was pretty familiar with that program and that great season they had and it seems like you're pretty knowledgable about football

I was a 3rd string "Y" receiver.
shoot me a email at 7thWardTiger@gmail.com and I'll get more specific with you. If i give you a HS location than any ole ranter can go look at an archived roster and get my name, pull pics, etc.

No shame in that man. That was a tough team to earn minutes on for a few years

I have my doubts, that's all.

That is one of the single most important aspect of a D-Line's job. Reading the O-Line will tell you the play is. How they block, how they line up, what their stance looks like, where their heads are turned. All keys.
Amen to that. Funnest thing I ever got to do as a d-lineman was when a guard would try to inside release on a trap play. a-hole's were so dumb i'd bump em, swim through the other guard tryin to trap me and shake the RB's hand right before i crushed him lol.
Up here though we go A gap, B gap, C gap and then used the number technique for lining up.
Too bad we didn't have you up here when I played LaClaire, our LB's were so dumb they'd get the strong side called out about 1 second before the ball was snapped lol

The difference between ignorance and stupidity is stupidity is knowing you don't know and not doing anything about it and ignorance is simply not knowing. He was ignorant because he didn't know. I didn't know either and I've been watching fb for 50 yrs. Thanks to all who have enlightened me.

That's something you really won't know unless you played. They just don't talk about it on TV and coaches don't really mention that in press conferences.
ETA: Read the book called "The Psychology of Coaching" by Bear Bryant. He tells a lot of what the positions are and what the terminology mean.

A nosetackle (0 technique) plays over the center. A 3 technique will line up with his inside eye on the outside eye of the strong side guard. A two technique lines up head up on a guard. A 1 technique lines up with his outside eye on the inside eye of the weak side guard. A four technique has his outside eye lined up with the indside eye of the stong side offensive tackle.

In my experience, the 1 tech has played as a weak side shade over center. Theoretically it sounds like it would be guards inside shoulder, but i think most modern techniques call the 1 shade over center.

Once again, we're getting a lil to technical. The OP probably never played defense or even football for that matter(no offense to the OP) so keeping it simple is better. 1 tech inbetween guard and center. All this shade strong side, slant weak, etc might confuse him.
