Why is everybody saying they shouldn’t play

Palmer had a touchdown against mcneese and is super fast

Kirklin played well last season and his problem is academics

Jenkins also played well last season

I like the receiver rotation, keeps all the receivers happy and fresh

Jjust wondering why y’all don’t like the receiver rotations especially because it can help in conference play and keep guys fresh

They should play, but should play less and not start.

Playing less talented players means less snaps and routes for more talented players. /Thread.

We don't need 6-7 WRs playing and rotating, it's too many and no one can get in rhythm. The best ones played last night, go with them.

But are they really less talented? I mean Kirklin hasn’t played at all this season so don’t get the hate on him

Jenkins had a bad game against mcneese but scored clutch touchdowns against SC, Arkansas, and Florida

Palmer is super quick and already has a touchdown

It keeps the defense honest and keeps the players fresh

Boutte still gets his despite the rotation

The young guys are proving to be more dynamic and talented, at least in a limited sample size. Plus, did you notice how few drops we had last night? Palmer and Jenkins had far too many of them over the first two games.

After watching last night’s game, would you play any of those guys more than Boutte, Smith or Bech? I wouldn’t. That means they are fighting for two more spots on the field, and you still have Moore, Nabors, BTJ, and Hilton to contend with.

I’m not opposed to the vets playing, but they have to fricking EARN it. If the younger guys beat them out, then so be it. Let the best 4 guys based on talent and performance get the most PT along with Bech and tear it up.

ETA: I totally forgot Devonta Lee, who had a really nice game last night too. Alex Adams is still an unknown after injury issues, but was highly touted out of HS, as well. We are incredibly deep at WR.

Palmer was great this year prior to the injury.

Dude needs to still be in the rotation.

Option 1: ball gets to WR, ball goes into WR hand, WR runs for yardage.

Option 2: ball gets to WR, ball lands on ground.

Too much Option 2 and somebody else gets reps. And Deion Smith, not to mention Bech, were like little gravity wells out there where balls crossed the even horizon and got sucked in.

Both will be starters if not next week (they should) by the end of the AU game. I'm more concerned with seeing more of Brian Thomas Jr. and Nabers more than the 3 with the dropsies.

Also worth noting that while not very good at it, both Smith and Bech were giving a good go at run blocking. Worth noting that Thomas Jr. did a good job at run blocking.

Yes, they are much less talented. Palmer has the ball skills of a db. He’s straight line fast but there is not one single instance of him showing any agility or vision when the ball is in his hands so are are essentially just hoping he finds a seam. Kirkland is in his 5th year and still hasn’t shown any consistency yet. He also couldn’t keep himself academically eligible which definitely hurt us week one when we had multiple injuries. Jenkins brings nothing to the table. Can’t catch, can’t make plays in space, can’t take the top off the defense. He will make a good wr. 1 at northwestern state next year.

Did you not watch Jenkins make clutch plays last season against SC, Arkansas, and Florida?

Why would the defense be more “honest” when LSU substitutes? Were they dishonest in 2019 when LSU rarely substituted?

Also Kirklin wouldn’t be in this conversation if not suspended. He was due for a breakout year

You play them, but Boutte, Bech and Smith have flashed some elite skills after last night. We already know Boutte is phenomenal, but Smith looked like our 2019 WRs last night and Bech has done nothing but make plays and get 1st downs (and that TD he had was phenomenal).

Nabers also had a phenomenal catch on a ball Max was trying to throw away. Lee also played well. Moore and Palmer can fly, but they need to improve their hands and physicality. Jenkins played well last year, but has been inconsistent this year (and had a bad game last week). Kirklin is talented, but makes some plays and then completely disappears.

With this much talent at the WR position, guys better be playing up to their potential because there are other talented guys waiting to take time from them. It's a good problem to have. The WRs got an A last night after being totally lackluster heading into the game.

He has certainly improved his hands, so I credit him for that. That has always held him back. It is odd that his well-known speed doesn’t translate better to the field. It seems like he’s more of a straight-line guy. But he has been good. I’m just not sure he holds off some of the young guys we are starting to see.

Palmer, Jenkins, and Kirklin are not quality WRs They are special team players. LSU needs to decide like Alabama who their top 5 WRs are and play them. Clearly there should be a 1st sting, 2nd string and 3rd string. Playing 10 WRs is way too much. LSU has some great freshman WRs that are better than: Palmer, Jenkins, and Kirklin

I do agree with this and I’m not saying the young guys shouldn’t play because they absolutely should, but the veterans aren’t scrubs

I don't. It was maybe my biggest gripe with the offense last year, or a close second to OL play.

I liked the short rotation we used in 2019, seemed to make things flow more smoothly and quickly.

I strongly disagree

As I’ve mentioned jaray Jenkins made clutch plays last season against SC, Arky, and Florida

Kirklin hasn’t played this year and

And Palmer has looked good this year especially on that touchdown against mcneese
