As for the softball program-relative to the SEC, we're a dumpster fire.

Big overstatement. They're 4th in the conference, ranked, and will make the postseason.

Gymnastics is HUGE at UGA. I bet it might even make a profit considering every meet I went to, Stegeman was close to sold out. It has fallen off with the retirement of Yoculan, but I am guessing the powerful boosters will make a move if Clark can't get the goods this year.

UGA just beat Bama tonight in softball.

Tennis aso enjoys a very large and loyal following at UGA- I think they must have one of the largest tennis complexes in the country considering the national championships are regularly held in Athens.

I think in order to be successful at these sports you need to get a very loyal booster following that truly care about these programs specifically which UGA has.

Like that married dude UGA's gymnastics coach was banging who gave the team illegal benefits after they won a title.

Don Leebern and Yoculan actually live together. I think his wife lives down the street...lol Arky doesn't have shite on UGA when it comes to that. But the booster group I am talking about is not one person, but a dedicated group of individuals who specifically fundraise for these programs. Come to a tennis match at UGA or a gym meet and you will see them all around you. Sort of like how LSU has very loyal baseball fans.

I would be ok with decent fan support and winning sec every 10 yrs. But it's been 30. Maybe after a few more years of 4th place out of 7 finishes others will see the light. As for sb I think we will find out a good bit about this team in next few weeks

We already know everything about this team. They're last year's team minus Young.

Breaux is working extremely hard to get a new practice facility. once she gets that, the recruits will roll in.

the tennis programs are on the rise, and they will be getting indoor practice facilities soon enough.

golf was really good last year, both men's and women's...pretty sure for the first time in NCAA history both a dude and chick won individual titles from the same school.

softball, i don't know as much about.

Breaux has new facilities at least twice in last 35 years
And we have no sec for 30 years. Maybe a new coach
Would work. Could not do much worse imo

Gymnastics is a very hard sport to get national championships. Since gymnastics became an ncaa championship sport in 1982, only 4 schools have won national championships, 2 of which were in the sec(UGA and Bama). I believe to compete with these teams, we really need the facilities and the fan support. This year bama is averaging nearly 13000 people per meet and georgia is averaging 8700 people, while we are only averaging 3700. But saying that, the future does look very promising. Like was said earlier, we are about to build a new practice facility. Also of the 11 athletes who participated in regionals today, 2 of them were juniors and 1 was a senior. We are definitely a young team, but we were ranked as high as 8th this year in the nation. Freshman Rheagan Courville is going for a national championship in vault tomorrow. Overall, I have a feeling our gymnastics team has a lot of upside and next year or two we should be really really good.

I can read and still waiting for someone to tell me that 4-5th out of 7 in 10 of last 12 years in SEC and no sec champs in 35 years with same coach is acceptable….
Yes, WHEN you have a sport where two teams in the same conference have combined for HALF the national titles OF ALL TIME in that sport, and there are only 7 teams in that conference competing in that sport, AND your team has consistently finished among the top 10-15 teams in the country, it is alright to finish 4-5t most years, even for 35 yeras.

And only someone with a personal bitch against the coach of that team would even dream of complaining about the state of a program that has gone to the Super Six twice in the last 4 years, and was in the National Championship meet again this year.

WHAT?!?!?

Okay, clearly your personal issues with Breaux have clouded your ability to be intelligent. We are among 12 schools in the country -- IN THE COUNTRY -- who made the National Championship meet. That means 70 schools DID NOT DO AS WELL AS WE DID. That means there are at least SEVENTY different coaches out there doing worse than our coach. And at least some of them are doing 70 or so spots worse. That is "much worse".

Your position on this is clearly without any merit or rational thought whatsoever. I urge you to resolve you personal grudges with Coach Breaux elsewhere, and highly recommend you not attempt to resolve them (or anything else) with your skills at debate or persuasion. You should probably just send her an email saying, "I'm sorry," and try to move on with your life.

Look I have said nothing "personal" about coach. I do have an issue with her calling it "her program". But never said she was bad coach etc. Some of you are ok with being 4-5 in sec 10-12 years I'm not. I also never said we shud win nc. Sure bama and ugh are better, but we are not even beating uf and ark anymore. If you feel 5 in a 7 team league is ok fine. I disagree and after 35 years would like to see a new coach. But in any case we do have a good young team and I hope they do great but given the last 30 years I am not optimistic. I understand we are 12 th this year, but to me if your not competing in our conf you need a change. To each their own.
