Everybody associated with the program, including alumni like Marcus Allen, wanted to hire Coach O.

Then why didn't they go after him when they hired Helton? And why did Syracuse say thanks, but no thanks when O wanted an interview there?

Then why has he never, ever been even a D.C., let alone a head coach for a major program (minus his stint at Ole Miss, which we apparently aren't allowed to talk about)?

I don't know if he wanted to be a defensive coordinator. I think he wanted to be the best Dline coach/recruiter in college football. He idolized Pete Jenkins. Pete tells a story of a seminar that he did one time. It was only a couple hours in the morning. He said Coach O and himself went late into the night discussing technique, movement, hand placement, footwork, etc.

Maybe O just didn't see being the DC as the be-all-end-all position for him or maybe nobody would hire him as DC. But I'll go with the former since he worked with his best bud Kiffin a couple times and if he wanted to be DC or co-DC he would have been.

That's some serious mental gymnastics you took part in to justify him being a career DL coach

"Belittle"? Why do you take this shite so personally?

I'm not taking any of this personally. Have you even read this thread?

People have reasonable apprehension about the Orgeron hire. That's it.

Makes sense. Let's point out how much he sucks, how much he sucked a decade ago, how no one else would ever possibly hire him, how much the hire sucks, etc to make us get over our apprehension. Yeah, that's what it is - apprehension. Funny and even funnier way to cope with it, if it ever was.

If your apprehensive about getting on an elevator, I'm sure the first thing you're going to do is get on the net and search for every fatal elevator mishap ever. Makes sense doesn't it?

quote:

Maybe try to take a deep breath and don't take this all like it's a slight against you and your family

Maybe it's just my style of typing out facts that seems like I am taking anything personal because I really don't. Just having a Sailor Jerry drink and passing time.

Oh, you're the guy whose whole post earlier was one line calling me an idiot or similar. Okay, I can see why YOU would think I was the one taking it personal. Thanks for the entertainment.

So basically Orgeron can lose as much as Miles did at the end of his tenure and he'll continue to get a pass as long as he keeps up the good PR campaign?

Really? this is what you come up after reading my post? Sheeze !!!

The final score is all that matters......

Correct. It was the only horrendous thing in the UF game. People want to make it out like LSU had this horrible performance and that was not the case. Well besides the turnovers and the RB on the last play.

You do realize he was gifted both of those interim gigs

How do you get gifted an interim job? It's evident Pat Haden didn't even like him. Sounds like he was the most qualified candidate.

You don't build a football program in 3 years. The evidence of what O accomplished was the following coaches success early on. Once O's players were gone so was the coach. Hugh Freeze has said as much on multiple occasions.

first year = former coach's players

second year = former coach's players and freshmen from Coach O's first signing class

third year O's first signing class are sophomores.

Next year = new coach = equals Coach O's 1st recruits as Juniors = winning season and bowl game win.

Next year = equals Coach O's 1st recruits as seniors = winning season and bowl game win.

Next year = two classes of new coach and less of Coach O's = 4-8 overall record and 1-7 SEC.

Next year = three classes of new coach and few of Coach O's = 2-10 overall record and 0-8 SEC and GETTING FIRED.

Finishing up at USC & LSU does some.

And you can also tell he's learned from some past mistakes.

So wait, Houston losing to UCONN is on Herman, but LSU losing to Florida at home isn't on O?

Did I say that? Did I even just a little bit insinuate that. I gave Macho Man credit for his first season at UH. Did you think the loss to UCONN was good? I don't know if it was or not, damn sure didn't watch the game and I live in Houston.

Wouldn't say that but a person would have to be an idiot to not see why Coach O brought in the only OC nominated for the Broyles Award as LSU's OC.

Again, youre the poster that doesnt give Herman credit for his 1st year at Houston because it wasnt his program and then touts an interim tenure. Just the epitome of ignorant.

Are you okay?

My post was about Coach O hiring Canada after he was named permanent coach. Is Macho Man dancing on your mind so much you can't get him out?

====================================================================

He really gets you excited, huh? Now I understand the hate for Coach O that is coming from you.

Have you let Macho Man know your feelings? The worst thing that can happen is he will say NO !!!

We get it, you hate him as a coach. In just a couple short years you'll get the chance to pound your chest for being right, or kiss his cajun arse for being so wrong.

None of this matters YET

Hiring Canada as OC and Tommie Robinson as RC/RB coach and extending Aranda's contract does matter. To say otherwise is just a case of not thinking before typing.
