no.... If you go solely by that pic, Reid has possession and is down. You are really trying too hard. It was not a blown call, and most experts agree. That pic is just the best view of what was going on.

lovely piece of fiction there. You should try to get published. He had both hands on the ball. He hit the ground. The ball was not pulled loose until after he hit the ground. He was down. Tie goes to the reciever.
aka SHOULD BE "fricken" end of story. But alas, it was not. Congrats to LSU. Our FG kicker sucks worse than the refs.

Are we looking at different pictures? Because having a hand on the ball does NOT denote possession. It takes either 2 hands or 1 hand and a "football move". That pic shows nothing to lead to Reid's possession. Thats just a hand trying to pull the ball loose. Which it did, after he was on the ground and down.

That was the right call. LSU took that pass from Bama.

When the ball is up in the air it is up for grabs. Reid is in essence catching it with one hand and pulling it in to take possession. His knee is down, thus he is down, and the bama guy at this point is basically just stripping the ball away from him, which he failed to do. It could have still been either team's ball, but Reid was down first when both had possession.
