I listened to him a lot.

This is a man who gave everything he had to high school football and the kids that play it. He worked the night shift at warehouses to be able to coach at Walker.
He routinely brought area prospects on visits and to camps on his own dime. Every year, no excuses.
His personal life included his friends, his student athletes, our message boards and anything football. He breathed football all his life.
I'm very sad to hear this. And I don't want to say anything incorrect but I believe he was diagnosed with some type of cancer and DID ALL OF THESE WONDERFUL THINGS without telling anyone.
A real man who put others first. Will be missed.

Elevated WBC could be leukemia. I do this for a living.

Thoughts and prayers to all who knew him. You were honored to know him IMO.

I talked with him a few times on the phone. To say he gave his all to the kids who needed it is even an understatement. He loved LSU football and he loved helping underprivileged kids. May Gods mercy rest upon his soul and may the Lords presence comforts his family and closest friends.

Great post.
From working in the recruiting business, I got to know Diggs very well. As Teen Wolf said, Diggs would drive kids to camp when their parents couldn't afford it. And truth be told, there were times where Diggs - a guy working two jobs and taking care of his grandmother - couldn't either.
He would do anything to help someone else out. He called me constantly with news from the prep scene, unlike any other high school coach I've known. And it was because he cared about the kids, and nothing else.
This news hits me hard. I expected to meet up with Diggs this weekend for LSU camp, as I spoke with him just a couple of days ago.
He loved the recruiting game, but as a guy who played on the line at Southeastern, he favored the kids who didn't have all the media attention, because he figured if he could get a kid on scholarship at ANY school - regardless of level - then he was doing his job. And he was right.
RIP Diggs. You will be missed by everyone you came in contact with during your time here.

I went to school with him. I'm just in shock right now. For those who knew him, sports has been his passion since he was a kid. I can still see him rocking his Orlando Shaq Jersey.
Many people go through life with no true passion. Diggs had plent of it!

Diggs did indeed battle cancer when he was a kid. I don't know if that is what he was facing now. I remember he kicked cancer's a$$ when he was younger. He was such an inspiration then, and still is.

I went to school and played football with him as well. I'm not sure if he loved the kids he coached or hated Lebron James more but he was a great guy and completely devoted to the prep community. Rip ole boy. Hope you get a head coaching job in heaven!
