re: Once again, having Jarrett Lee at QB helps the LSU running game

They loaded the box almost the entire game. The coaches and cheerleaders were in the box. Lee did nothing to keep Oregon from loading the box.

Facts disagree with this.
But whatever.

Do you really think it was Lee that did nothing? I think Les went in with a very conservative game plan and that is what Lee ran. IMO.

tl;dr but if you say so, OK

having good blocking helps the LSU running game. the downfield passing threat helps (whichever QB we have), but we beat ppl up last yr and on Sat even they loaded up. cuz we could block.

I think what is more critical than having a qback that can haul arse, is an offensive line that can keep him out of trouble...and open holes for those RB's...so that the blitz won't come.
Ok so you believe that a good O line would be a negative to a running QB? If the OL can open holes for the other backs why wouldn't they open them for the QB? The OL would stop the Blitz for one and not the other? I don't understand the logic.

That statement isn't close to being true. Did you forget the almost pick 6?
Lee had a good game. He ran the offense Miles wanted him to and he did it well. He will probably do it well again on Saturday.

However, the OP tries to argue that Lee at QB helps LSU run the ball. The OP implies that a Lee at QB tends to prevent the defense from loading the box because the defense has to protect against the pass. Good theory.
However, Oregon loaded the box all night. Lee at QB did not stop Oregon from loading the box. At all. Lee's performance did not stop Oregon from loading the box. At all.
We saw a far more aggressive game plan compared to last year. The game plan attacked the defense with deeper passes than last year. However, that was not the result of Lee at QB.
It was stated before camp opened this fall that LSU would be more aggressive in attacking defenses downfield. Jefferson even commented on it.
In conclusion, the OP is incorrect in stating that having Jarrett Lee at QB helps the LSU running game.

Last season:
With Jefferson: 446 rushes for 2083 yards, 4.6 ypc
With Lee: 89 rushes for 305 yards, 3.4 ypc
Against Oregon we averaged 3.66 ypc.
For comparisons sake, with Stud calling the same type of game against Texas A&M last year, we averaged 5.23 ypc.

Agreed
The threat of the deep ball made Oregon back off

Once again, people are incorrectly focusing on who was under center and not who was in the booth.

the passing game was still very very DANGEROUS

So for the passing game, we get 10-22, 98 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT,
Yep, everybody else in the conference is now worried sick about how they're going to gameplan around those numbers.

almost pick maybe, but not almost pick 6. not even the dude that almost picked that pass thought that was gonna be a pick 6. stop exaggerating.

I'm sorry. I must have seen the wrong game. I thought I recalled the DB running all the way to the end zone like he had made a TD.

Dude fell on the ground at the non-catch. This ain't the NFL.
Although I do thing CFB should change that rule to reflect the NFL's rule.

This
All the credit for the running game goes to O-Line, wr's, te's and rb's. I didn't see Lee block for anyone and he certainly didn't scare them wiht his passing.

Lol you guys are pretty funny with some of the shite you come up with. Has nothing to do with a "pro-style" QB. Has everything to do with gameplan, RB talent, and OL.

Having Lee at QB did't have anything to do with improving the running game. The threat of throwing on 1st down helps the running game however. All offseason their was talk that we would have a more verticle passing attack this season which we witnessed against Oregon. Even if we didn't complete any of those long passes, the threat was their.
