LINK Dinky clip, but that's all I could find. I remember that loss to UAB put us at 2-2. I knew Saban needed some time, but honestly, who in the world would have thought Saban would have eventually become what kind of a coach he is now.

I was in high school at a party and listened to the end of the game on the radio. I then got drunk after drinking a whole Bud Light and a half.

I thought that he was better than the results he was producing, but no one could have guessed the type of success he would have long term. And his biggest regret professionally? Leaving us

Thanks to the 90's I was able to purchase four season tickets for the 2000 season. So I was present for that miserable experience. And it was Homecoming if memory serves me correctly.

However, I was also present on Nov. 4, 2000 when we finally beat the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa at home, something we had not done since 1969.

And that Bama game was the dawn of instant replay thanks to LSU's Jumbotron operator. An LSU player had clearly recovered a muffed punt(?) which was obvious on the Jumbotron. As I recall it was a critical time in the game. The refs were huddled up pretending not to look at the Jumbrotron and at least one snuck a look and LSU got the ball.

And that was a day game. The last game I went to in Bryant-Denny. Well guess what. Im going to Bryant-Denny this year. Its destiny. Especially If CBS chooses this game as its 2:30 time slot.

This game was, in fact, a gamechanger. It marked the end of a bad era in LSU football where losing had become a New Normal.

The very next week opened up the Modern Era of football excellence which exists to this following day. LSU's upset of Tennessee was truly a sentinel achievement in the history of college football.

I was so sick about the UAB loss that I wasn't even planning to go to the Tennessee game the next week. Thank God I changed my mind and had bought student season tickets for like $8 a game lol. So I put on my custom made Booty for Heisman shirt and proceeded to experience the greatest day of my life to that point! The win over Tennessee was the reawakening of LSU and Tiger Stadium and we tore down the goalposts. Does anyone have a link to the article written in Knoxville about the death of Death Valley prior to that game? And to top it all off, Britney Spears was at Sports that night. 2000-2003 was an epic college career.

Was Toefeld really as fast as he looked on his 74 yard TD run? That was incredible!

There were students standing in the middle of contraflow at Highland and Lee with 5 gallon water jugs collecting money for Saban's bus ticket out of Baton Rouge.

For Saban and the Tigers, losing to UAB was like losing to ULM for Saban and the Tide.

It's what's called "groin pains".
