as students hell week was a blast. we had panty raids and did enough hell raising for the baton rouge cops, including their k9 corps chasing us and filling up a couple of paddy wagons. they brought us downtown, gave us a short lecture and let us go.

Son was this game....Eli's trip & fall....and he called me post game & said : " Dad, old men are sitting on curbs crying. " ME: "those are my age Rebels. Walk up & laugh at them ". The Bert Jones / Brad Davis winning TD Game I was sitting right behind their bench & all their players were losing it, screaming, jumping up & down & then they started throwing their helmets into the hedges lining the back of the end zone Coach Vaught was standing on the hash mark closest to their bench, arms folded, just shaking his head back & forth.....for a good while.

Been interesting seeing ole miss have a couple of decent seasons recently and re stir the rivalry a bit. They’ve been such a doormat program since basically the Archie manning era that the hate just dissipated. They were the upset worry not a good team for so long. The Kiffin saga has recharged things even though they are going to fall back to their relative average after Chambliss plays his 17th season of football. They’ll have a Stewart partridge moment every now and then but probably about it.

Ole Miss game in 03 Matt Mauck was very ill that morning. Medical staff was hydrating him desperate to get him ready. I remember he was seeing triple and a coach said “throw it to the one in the middle”. He played the game but if you remember he threw a pick in the first quarter right to a defender. So we went with bubble screens and such until it eventually cleared up. True story.
