SnipeHunter is right. I'm from Memphis, have lived here for over 20 years now, and all my friends growing up were nothing but Ole Miss fans for the most part. They have a huge sense of entitlement. It's not so bad when they suck, but when they're moderately good it's unbearable. My friends weren't as bad as many of the kids that go there trying to act overly southern, but i know exactly what he's talking about. They have a lot of kids that come from normal middle to upper middle class families in mississippi, but when they get to ole miss, they all somehow drive brand new tahoes and act like they grew up on a cotton plantation. it's all part of the ridiculous image they feel like they have to uphold. the greek system being so powerful makes this even worse. most of my friends tired of all the bullshite after their sophomore years and didn't participate all all the nonsense anymore. i was greek myself, but they take it to another level. oh, and the grove, while it can be fun and is cool the first time you go, but after going enough times you'll come to realize how overrated it is.

it's easier to tell when you hear people talk before they go to ole miss and how they talk after one semester. know plenty of guys from memphis that had pretty neutral southern accents and then came back christmas break talking like they were born and bread south mississippians.

First of all, they live their daily lives with the misguided belief that they are better educated than the rest of us, and demonstrate it with the way they carry themselves.

This is very true. The "Walk of Champions" is a perfect example of this. They have never been champions in anything. THey are so desperate to feel accomplished, that they hang banners for being co West champions....though they have never been to ATL. They are also the only team in MS to have never been to Omaha....Even USM has been to Omaha.
MSU and OM are the two lowest rated academic schools in the SEC. The education there is equal to every other public school in the state...including the JC's.
quote:

When their football team is losing you can’t find an Ole Miss fan, but when they’re winning you can’t find one who isn’t looking down his nose at you.

I live in New Orleans and have several neighbors that are Ole Miss fans. We get along great and I enjoy hanging out with them....we just don't talk about football. They are really pathetic and want to believe they are relevant. When they beat LSU 2 years ago, they couldn't wait to rub it in and talked about it for months. Last year when we beat them, I said nothing to them about it. When this year started, they have this dilusional immage that they will be competitive and were so hyped to make all these road trips and talked about coming with me to Oxford to see LSU lose.
Now to reality....They have not made an Ole Miss game in months and are not going to the game this weekend. THey don't want to acknowledge that there is even a game this week. They act like there are other things absorbing their time.
Fact is that they are pathetic fans. They have penis envy for LSU that is greater than USL. They are not relevant and will never be relevant. They sneak up on LSU and win every once in while, but they never parlay it into anything.
As Trev Alberts once said..."every litter of pigs has a runt and no matter how hard you try to feed them or help them, they will still be the runt. Ole Miss is the Runt of the SEC and they always will be."
The Black Bears are pathetic on so many levels. THey are too ignorant and stupid to realize how irrelevant they are. Their image is fabricated in their own mind and their football team is putrid.

My Dad was berated by an Ole Miss woman for standing under an empty Ole Miss tailgate tent while he was waiting to meet a friend (Ole Miss grad). She went on and on about "his kind" not being welcome in the grove

I'll never forget in 2001 before the game I was hanging out with a crowd that was half LSU/half Ole Miss people and we were underneath the East upper deck because the Ole Miss people wanted to see their team get off the bus to the locker room. So I'm standing there in a group of Ole Miss fans and this Ole Miss bitch looks at me in my LSU sweatshirt and says in her God awful overly exaggerated Scarlet O'Hara accent, "wut owr yewwwww dewing hair?"

I said, "it might be because this is on LSU's campus and I'm an LSU fan, I don't know just a hunch?"

That is exactly how most of the Ole Miss people I have encountered are: incredibly bitchy (male or female), unreasonable, and complete lack of common sense. They also chatter in millions but spend in hundreds.

You don't have to be rich to have class, but having class usually means you've got some money.

Ole Miss has no class.

Damn. I really can't decide whether or not I want to go to OM. I need to do something new, and I have a few good friends over there already. It is just such a tough time to leave LSU

Yeah, you right. Miserable because they have to choose between the palatial penthouse suite in NYC and the sprawling 40 ac palace in Milan when they grow up. Tough life indeed, sir.

I've never understood this, as OM is not a good university

All of that having been said, academically speaking, Ole Miss is a great university

Nah, It's one of the two worst universities in the SEC and one of the worst "flagship" state universities in the country.

I graduated from an Ivy league school, which has it's own pros and cons, but I can state, without reservation, there is more conscientious pretentiousness at The Grove on a given fall weekend than at The Game (Harvard-Yale).
