Ole Miss/Alabama 2020 (LK year 1 in Oxford)

Not that I needed any more reason to be jacked up for the LK era but I just watched the highlights of this game and MAN, they absolutely shredded eventual national champion bama's defense.
Trying to find ole miss' blue chip ratio for that roster and not having any luck, but that had to be the worst roster he had there.
First year roster put up:
48 points
Total yards: 647
Passing yards: 379
Rushing yards: 268
The most exciting stat though? TE had 180 yards and 2 TD's
On the flip side, the defense gave up 700 yards and 63 points
Not worried about that with the continuity and talent we have on that side of the ball, will not even be in the same stratosphere as 2020 ole miss.
Game Highlights (Don't read the crawler at 6:24 if suffering from 2020 LSU PTSD)

That was LK’s Achilles hill at Ole Miss was that his defense couldn’t make the stops needed to win the big games. It is what cost them in the playoffs this past year as well because that offense was rolling.
This is why I have wanted LK at LSU since 09 because he’s the best offensive mind in the game and I’ve always said that whoever gets him when he grows up will have one of the best coaches in the country. Well it looks like he’s getting to LSU at the exact right now because we can build him the defense he needs to go all the way.

They had some good offensive weapons though and Matt Corral was actually very competent for Lane's offenses. Elijah Moore was an absolute matchup nightmare and man did he utilize him extremely well in 2020. If he had played a full season his number would have been filthy. He also didn't play against us to finish the season which is quite crazy considering in 8 games he had 1100+ yds and 80+ catches.
Sam is a better QB, Tre'dez is an absolute matchup nightmare, and we have a much deeper WR unit than 2020 Ole Miss. Not to mention the OL and running backs. We should have a very productive offense this season.

The only game I'm worried about the offense in is really Clemson. We play better defenses than that and will have tougher games, but first game with all new cast of characters and all new system. There will be growing pains against a well-coached defense. Being at home will help though.

I agree, but luckily clemson's offense should have their own growing pains as well with a first year QB. Especially on the road in a hostile environment against what should be a pretty damn good defense.
Might be a lower scoring game

If you mean execution from the players then I will agree with you. But thats where the health of our QB and why Winston Watkins are going to be key for the opening game. The scheme wise there is going to be plenty of plays to be had.

People sitting near me have always told us that the TE is ALWAYS open so throw it to him.

A couple of cautions:
- Nobody had a good defense in 2020. Teams couldn't have a spring and they couldn't practice full contact. So, yes, this is impressive against a Saban-led team, let's not draw too much from it.
- That same Ole Miss team lost to an LSU team that had imploded and just won a weird, miraculous game against Florida.
I hope you are right.
