Could not believe they scored, don’t recall seeing a reply so don’t know what happened.
It took me almost 50 years but I finally saw a replay of that fateful play about two months ago. An Aggie buddy of mine sent it to me. LSU DB named Paul Lyons misjudged a pass and went for the INT when he shouldn't have. Lyons later became a QB and backed up Bert Jones.

Thanks everyone, lots of good stuff. Trying to put together a timeline for the year of 1970 in Tiger athletics. Off to a great start, thanks again. By the way I am way closer to being an old timer than a youngster.

I'm an old timer and it doesn't bother me. Are you and old timer?

I remember listening to WWL in Birmingham. The noise in the stadium was so loud it would drown out the radio guys and they would have to tell you what had happened on the last three plays or so. I think that was ND anyway. Did USC play in Red Stick? I might have my time line mixed up. Us old timers do that.

Two things stick out....We had to win the last two games against OLE Miss and Tulane to go to Orange. That season we had the stinging loss to Notre Dame (we were hosed). But, then sweet revenge with the blowout win and payback to Archie in TIger Stadium, 61-17! Casanova returned two punts and I will remember to the day I die, being in the South endzone with Ronnie Estay tackled Archie for a safety!
The crowd erupted.....world order was restored :)

Thanks for bringing back that memory. I was 10 years old and my first LSU game living out of state. The pride that game instilled into me lives on to this day. Casanova and Estay seem lost in "greats" discussions.
