In the Florida game, LSU had so many self imposed turnovers:

QB center exchange
2 interceptions after ball popped up in air after hitting WR shoulder pads
1 muffed punt

.....and the game was still somewhat close. I also wasn't a fan of Jimbo Fisher. I'm much happier with Crowten and Miles.

I blame those Defensive backs at Florida for catching those passes thrown to them. Jimbo can call the play it's the QB's responsibility to execute.

Jamarcus was a great quarterback his last year at LSU. The 2005 year LSU won some games in spite of him (Florida for example). He played much better in 2006, but still lacked that extra something to make him the best ever. (I'm not saying that Flynn was better because his team won the title). But when comparing Jamarcus with guys like Bert Jones, Tommy Hodson, even Rohan Davey in his last year, there are other guys in the mix for the best ever.

Also, how many guys in the history of college football were able to throw to 2 first round draft picks, plus a healthy Early Doucet (who would have gone much higher if not for his injury problems his senior year)? I believe that Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, and Doucet all helped Jamarcus greatly.

I'm sure many feel that way despite how much he appeared to struggle under center during most of his career at LSU. If #1 wasn't open, it just looked ridiculous.

You're not exactly helping your reputation of being a dumb man: two of those picks were off of Bowe's hands.

JR made them. Thats why Doucet laid down for most of last year.

Bowe had a great rookie season with Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle at QB. Davis is supposed to be more in the mix this year, and Doucet has already impressed in camp with the Cardinals.

The UF game was the one where he got blindsided and messed up his wrist. He started out that game hot, remember the bomb to Bennie?

Russell's four losses:

Auburn was all on Jimbo. We didn't spread the field and throw the ball until midway through the 4th quarter.

Florida was a mix of things. Balls bouncing off receivers hands, bad throws by Russell, fumbles in the endzone, etc. It was a team loss. However, I still believe that game was lost by a bad call by the officials. In the 2nd quarter, Russell hit one of the tightends (I can't remember which one) for a touchdown. This would have made the score 14 - 0 LSU with less than 7 minutes in the 2nd quarter. However, a holding call down field brought the play back. The replay is clear that the O-line men shoved the Florida LB to the ground; it wasn't even close to holding. Two plays later, we fumbled on the one yard line and Florida drove the length of the field and scored.

Tennessee was Pelini's worst game, enough said.

Georgia just beat us. We may have been tired, but we just got flat out beat. It was another team loss.

I consider Russell as the best QB LSU ever had. I truly believe that if we had Crowton in '06, we win the NC.

Couldn't find a way to align the columns, but one good pass to Bennie Brazell didn't make up for his 2 picks, 1 fumble, and one step out of bounds right before throwing a pick with less than four minutes in the game (both no-no's with a lead late in the game).

Here's his game by game stats in 2005. Didn't Jamarcus only have two career 300 yard passing games?

other than my ears bleeding bc of the terrible song that was playing for the first four minutes, it was a great video.

i dont kno y everyone on youtube insists on playing, "this is y im hot" for every highlight video!

the first throw JR makes on the video is hitting the wr in stride 65 yards on the fly off of his back foot while getting hit. not only could no other LSU qb n history do that, im pretty sure ther are only a few arms ever to come along n the history of college fottbal who could.

If JR stays healthy, he'll own 2 Super Bowl rings before it's all over.

Am I to assume that those were perfectly thrwon balls, or was Dwayne Bowe trying to leap in the middle of 3 defenders to snag a ball

It was a WR screen and it was a terrible call by the ref, plus Hester was in the endzone the next play and they reversed the call. You are right.

Look at Jamarcus' stats for that game. Do you remember the pick he threw right in the hands of a UT defender and UT got the ball inside of LSU 20 yard line to close within 3?

Don't blame it all on Jimbo. Matt Mauck had 2 300 yd passing games in 1 1/2 years as a starter. Rohan Davey had 6 300 yard passing games in 2001 alone. All of those were with Jimbo Fisher.

Jamarcus was a great QB at the end of his career, but he was not the best ever at LSU.

A few highlight reel plays doesn't mean that he was in control of the game at all times. I'm pulling for Jamarcus. If he becomes a NFL Hall of Famer I will be happy, and I will think that he continued to improve and made use of his freakish ability.

Jamarcus had tremendous abilities. But I have to confess that after watching the scrambling in the early part of the video I said to myself, "They must have compiled every good run." I didn't remember him as a good scrambler. What made the biggest impression on me was when 300 pound offensive tackles would slam into legs and he would just stand there looking downfield, and then complete an impossible pass. He wasn't perfect in every aspect of the game but he was about as powerful a package as I've ever seen in a college quarterback.
