They brought in what I assume to be their best reliever (you'd think so in a 1 run game), and we just plain rocked that guy.

McMullen and Bregman both hit the reliever hard. And Laird got a base hit. We squared up both Gray and Garza in the 8th.

i guess i just think rocking a guy is more than what we did. katz, rhymes, and laird hit the ball hard off of gray also.

laird's base hit goes 2 feet left or right and the guy doesnt give up a hit.

either way, great game and even better pitching from both sides

Rhymes and Laird got slap hits off Gray over 7 innings, and Katz did made solid contact, yes. But otherwise, he was owning us til the 8th.

give that 2 ft leeway to McMullen and Bregman and we have a 4-0 lead with Katz and Rhymes up. Or 3-0 with 2 outs and runner on base, if you count Laird as an out.

That reliever wasn't gonna last another full inning the way our guys were making contact off him. Katz was probably drooling watching the meatballs he was throwing.

They pitched him about as long as they usually do.. The guy is a stud. A friend of mine played for NW State & faced him. In that game, The dude threw a complete game shutout with his 100th pitch being in triple digits on the radar gun. The guy is the real deal. Hats off to both starters tonight. We just worked the count more & got his pitch count higher. What a game. Everyone should appreciate good Pitching.

This exactly. Gray earned being the #3 draft pick. LSU had 3 hits, all singles going into the 8th inning, then Jones got a nice strong hit that was actually misplayed by CF guy (I want to think Laird or Stevenson would have caught that ball), then Tyler "Clutch" Moore smacked it in the gap. Personally, I would have left Gray in down only 1 run, but not my call.

Glad we won and Nola pitched his arse off and the guys behind him made no errors-that's how you have to play post season baseball.
