I can understand the fan "hate" for the above reasons..

If they were not upset, then something would be wrong

And another point.

It's happening more and more often.

A reporter asks a recruit, "Why did you choose LSU, or Auburn, or Florida, or Bama", etc?

And the kid replies, "I chose them because they play in the SEC and I wanted to play against the very best competition. I want to see how I match up against other players such as myself."

Do recruits ever say that about the other conferences?

We didnt say we were making them win or rooting for them makes LSU win. Try to comprehend before you respond to it.

I live in Oklahoma and he definitely wasn't taking a shot at the SEC.

He went on the radio that day and went on to talk about how every school in the SEC propels the others to be better through recruiting, upgrading facilities etc. Said he wished the Big 12 would do that.

I think being LSU and us having a great season improve LSU's chances of being selected for major bowls. And it isn't a logical thing it is based purely on emotion. I just truly delight in the miseries of other SEC fans. I find it very enjoyable and euphoric especially when one of the major programs go down. If I am trying to support another team in the conference it just feels fake when everything in me is hoping for that particular SEC team's arse kicking.

I can see where chanting "Big 12, Big 12, Big 12" would be problematic for OU fans since to do so, you generally need to be winning your BCS bowl game.

I hear you.

But I think you're being naive if you think that an unranked 7-5 LSU team from the Big 12 would have been selected to play against 14th ranked Ga Tech.

Conversely, if a team goes 7-5 in the SEC and all the losses were in conference, then the Bowl Selection Committee look at it as, "Well, all of LSU's losses were against other SEC teams, so they might actually give Ga Tech a game. Let's extend them an invitation."

And then LSU mauls them.

I love it!!!

I have to admit, I root for SEC schools in non-conference games. Hell this is the reason the winner of the SEC has a spot in the National Title Game. We need to hope our SEC rivals beat everybody else, just not us. I hope we face an unbeaten Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, because when we beat them, it boosts our BCS standings!

Didn't LSU create the SEC chant at the end of the 2007 BCS game vs Ohio State???

I can't remember another time before that game that I heard the chant from any SEC fans.

Yep.

Common sense.

Amazing how there are some on this board who actually don't understand this.

I think a reason why it's gotten so big on the chant is how Auburn was left out of the title game.

Other leauges don't do it because chantng big 12 or pac 10 sounds retarted. The SEC's chantability is just one more thing that makes us better than everyone else.

Nope. Observe the game for hopefully enjoyment or sometimes depression

Fans rooting/chanting SEC has NO EFFECT on game outcomes or fricking BCS rankings. You have got to be f**king kidding me if you are "pulling for the Gumps to win".

Again- LSU wins their games it doesn't matter what the other fricking schools do. Citing Auburn is a fail. That team was not in USC/Okie's class that year. And saying it was some SEC bias is clueless as well, seems like a SEC team won the BCS the year before

Feel free to bask in your group think mentality. I will pass
