The year of the Tiger was last season. This is the year of the Buckeye!

NFL draft is one thing, but I don't see any OSU fans crowning them National Champions. I have the utmost faith that the players I'm talking about will be taken in the early rounds of the NFL draft, so much that I will openly say so. As far as the MNC? I have my doubts and have not said anything to that effect. Don't confuse one for the other.

it never gets old hearing how a college team is nfl caliber only to see that team get smoked by an "inferior" team in the championship

Dont worry, they are returning virtually everybody on the defense that we marched up and down the field on at will.

I think right now we're at a heat with LSU. The DL for LSU is scary and will keep them in every game this year...QB issues will work themselves out by the time they play a meaningful game (AKA SEC starts)

I feel confident that we're going to beat USC. Their defense is amazing but their offense is replacing most of their line, QB, RB, and their WRs are average. Our DL isn't great but they will get pressure and cause a lot of disruption. It will be a close low scoring game I think, but I like our chances.

As for it being our year, I feel that way in the sense that is more like "if we're going to do it, its this year". Last year was a surprise to me as a majority of Buckeye fans were already looking forward to 08.

I'll put it this way: another full year of expirience certainly isn't going to hurt us. We were a team that truthfully didn't belong in the MNC last year, but were a top 10 squad I think. This year we should be a top 5 squad fighting for a shot at the MNC.

God...I hope people don't call for a "rematch" between tOSU and SC for the title game like the media did two years ago when Michigan was in context. What a disaster that would have been!

Maybe for you, but I gauruntee we wouldn't have gotten our asses beaten 41-14 by Michigan, so it would have been GREAT for us!

Maybe not 41-14, but I'm not sure Ohio State would have beaten anyone that night. They did not show up.

I agree, but it wouldn't have tarnished our reputation quite as bad, since we had beaten scUM earlier that year.

But its done and I'm ready for this 08 season to get underway.

The question is, if Tosu does win the MNC by beating say OU or Missouri, does that gain them respect down South or do they have to beat an SEC team?

Of course it doesn't, and people will discount the win entirely. OSU needs to beat an SEC team, and even then most would only view it as stopping the bleeding.

The defending national champions aren't here because they lose too many pieces or play too tough of a schedule, its just I think there are 6 better teams than LSU currently

and one of those 6 you put ahead (and aheady by multiple spots) was OSU.

Their qb has 3 times the experience then the NC QB had. They still have their best RB (and the leading yard gainer the last few games with unmatched depth). Granted their receivers were not spectactular last year, they have a lot of talent there.. and oh yes they win big games.. you dont. They had more total yards then you guys last year and more yards passing. Oh and they beat the shite out of the second best team you played (and lost too). USC by 10.

I respect Ohio State right now. They were in a rebuilding year last year, similar to LSU this year. They continue to be a recruiting monster, and Tressel continues to implement his playmakers, no matter if they're seniors or true freshmen.

I have a question for you, Zamoro: If LSU wins another MNC in the next few years but doesn't beat a PAC-10 team in doing it, does that gain them respect out West?

Not until they beat USC or Oregon...at Autzen.

No, I've never not respected LSU...just not respected some Rant homers who fail to respect the PAC 10 despite the head to head record. Has the conference been top heavy...sure. But the fact that USC struggles most in conference says something about the quality of competition...at least to us left coasters.

Its cute that you're stalking me. My opinion has changed a little in the 4 days since I originally wrote that, I'm a little bit of a crossroads right now think that I undervalued LSU.
