Softball pitching is a lot more natural on your arm then baseball pitching. You'll see pitchers go both ends of a double header for over 300 pitches fairly often.

I've seen 200 quite often. The underarm pitch is much less stressful for the shoulder and does not create impingement of the scapula during the motion.
