I think the love that Lee would receive in Tiger Stadium this weekend might help erase many bad memories for the kid from the past couple of years, especially if he comes in and leads us to a score or two
I'm going to be in the stadium Saturday and I hope I don't hear any booing of any players, but I'm sure I will.
I think our QB philosophy should be changed from "Stick with the guy come hell or high water" to "Stick with the guy that is showing the best ability at the time".
What LSU has is two decent QBs that give you two different abilities. I think Lee is the better passer but he's not going to run for the 1st when the receivers are bottled up. JJ might not get that ball to a slightly open receiver but if you need 4 yards on 3rd down then you ALWAYS have a pass run option built in any play with JJ.
Take a look at the defense being played against you and put in the correct QB accordingly.

Fair enough.
Does anyone think Shepard should be given a shot at QB? Reasons why he should be given a shot: 1) he played QB in h.s. 2) it was not a foregone conclusion he would be moved to another position in college; there was at least some discussion about keeping him at QB. 3) he could run the current LSU offense, i.e., options, "read" run plays, better than either of LSU's two scholarship QBs. 4) he is an awesome runner and, to date, so-so receiver -- but he could probably catch the snap from center. Reasons why not: only one I can think of ... can he throw a football? Does anyone know? Did he pass the football in high school? Unless he is just really spastic throwing a football, I think this is a great idea. But I realize it will never happen.

Didn't see the spring game huh?

JJ should've probably been about 12 for 20 against Vandy, there were a few drops. While not stellar...60% is not bad at all.

So you've seen Lee play this year? What you are basically saying is its impossible for Lee to improve from 2009 to 2010
Obviously you should read the rest of my post...

Heck yeah and I think he should throw a pass too!

We should have groomed Shep to be a QB beginning last year. But we didn't. Now it's probably too late to do so without enduring a terrible transition and maturation period.

Not bad for COMPLETION PERCENTAGE.
What about yac on those passes? What about total yardage gained from those plays? Completing 60% of your passes if they result in 3 and 4 yard gains is not doing all that well imho.

Heck when the balls are not on the money, they are going to drop more than accurately thrown balls. Heck I bet the recievers are so shocked that the ball actually made it to them that they can't catch the ball (see TT in the endzone with cornerback in front of him for example)

Yes I did.
The spring game is the WORST evidence for any talent evaluation IMO.
I've seen JL in real life game situations running and he's about as elusive as me. The guy can throw, but you'll never mistake him for a dual threat QB.

Don't need a dual threat qb. If we did then RS would be running the ball.

Nope....and if you look at the stat sheet they aren't. Just making an observation, thats all.

Deceiving number when you consider where the completions would be. The drops were barely 5 yard passes with defenders on top of them.
LSU's major problem last year:
Complete disrespect against our over the top pass game. Playing 3 DBs back and still not being able to hit 15 yard+ passes absolutely kills the run game. Vandy was loaded in the box all night, I was surprised the RBs were even getting 4 yard runs. This is not going to keep happening against better teams.
We don't even need great passing, just average. Hit them when they're open. Bama does it perfectly. The defense still has to respect their over the top game and it opens their running game. If we can just get the ball deep sometimes, it will improve the entire offense. The pass game, run and oline play...
Until then, our offense will remain handicapped.

its a game of split seconds. IMO the combination of JJ's inability to make quick decisions and his long release have a huge negative impact on our entire offense. its time to see what we look like with the other guy under center

Well then you must agree with my first post. I don't even know what you are arguing about here.
Slow down, read my first post, and stop being argumentative for no reason.
