I think a lot of this comes down to what they offer Austin Nola. If they offer him 25-50K, no way he turns pro, but if they come in 150-200K? Thats a big difference. By coming back for his senior year he loses all leverage and there is no way he would warrant 200K unless something crazy happens.
I know its been beaten to death that the two want to play together, and I have no idea what Aaron Nola's number might be, but it is feasible that if Toronto likes Aaron enough, they will throw a little bit of a bone to his big bro.
That being said, from everything I have read about Aaron, I am very skeptical that he would warrant the ~$700K (supplemental 1st money) it would take (all in) to sign him.

I know it varies a lot, but what is the average signing bonus for somebody in the 31/32 round? And what do they make yearly?

Yeah rd 31 is bad...he'll be back next year. If he can learn to hit better he'll move up.
I think he moves up no matter how well he does, he went this low becuase of sign-ability not how he played

Ralph Rhymes in the 40th round to the Pirates.

he will probably stay especially with a small market team like Pittsburgh

Bama bound
Wow, how are we letting a drafted lefty pitcher from Zachary go to Bama?

There is no slot that far down. It really varies, some teams take fliers on a high school kid with a strong commitment and try to sign him for a couple hundred thousand, while some teams pull a college senior who has no leverage and offers him some meal money, while still others take a kid who has no chance to play college (academics, desire, whatever) and is such a marginal prospect they'll throw them 5-10K.
Once in the minors it vaires by level. For any player signing the standard 7 year rookie contract.... No more than $850 a month in the first contract year, and then anywhere from $1,000 a month in A ball to $2,150 in AAA ball.

I think every once and a while you run into players who want to leave the baton rouge area
Posted on 6/8/11 at 12:52 pm to SM6
Once you become a minor league free agent, you can sign with any team. A lot of teams will sign organizational players to the AA or AAA club for $50K with the understanding that their pro prospects are slim, simply because they can fill the roster and are good 'clubhouse' guys.

I'd be pretty upset if we lost both Rhymes and Hanover...so late in the draft too. Those are both key guys to the team next year. Rhymes is the only guy we have returning that has shown he can hit excellent over the course of a season.
