Nothing but respect for Jim Hawthorne... All of these arse holes hate everything else now they are taking it out on Jim, a man who has dedicated his life to LSU sports!

LSU had a NC in football in 03 and 07 and 10 bowl games in a row, Won the SEC in basketball in 09 and went to the Final 4 in 05-06, went to the CSW in 08 and won the CWS in 09, and the women Tigers recently went to 5 Final 4's in a row.
Personally, I'm over flowing with happiness toward LSU and don't have to eat my own or anything else.
BTW, Jim called it all!!

I enjoy listening to J.H. People who don't like Jim obviously haven't listened to many broadcasters around the SEC, or any other conference for that matter. As for Hanigriff. If I had to listen to him for more then one boring, monotone inning I'd puke. Jim may be critical at times, but when he is, he's saying exactly what I'm thinking more times then not.

I have lived in so many places with my job I have almost lost count and always try to listen to the local guys. Hawthorne is barely average by comparison. Listen to Jim Henderson, he is great. Compare Henderson to Hawthorne and you will see a clear difference. I hate to admit it, but Eli Gold is 30 times better than Hawthorne.
The truth of the matter is that a lot of the great ones are no longer calling games. John Ward is no longer doing games. Larry Munson retired. So many great ones have moved on and its tough to listen to the new guys.

I didn't mean to sound like there are none better. I'm sure there have been. A few still, but very few. Traveling to football, and baseball games, listening to the home team broadcasters, most are terrible.

I plan my drive back from the hunting camp so I can listen to Henderson and I HATE to be traveling when LSU is playing. You never know how much time is left in the quarter. He barely mentions the score.
I will say he does a better job in baseball and think he is above average. I never even thought about college baseball till I moved here, thus I have never really listened to other college baseball broadcaster and can't compare him.
LSU is easily a top 5 athletic program and deserves a top 5 play by play person.

Me too, but his time has come, went and has passed! I can't listen to the old senile bastard anymore. His commentary is not like it used to be, I have no idea what is going on in the game half the time and end up turning it off. He should announce his retirement and attempt to go out with some dignity.

Get the records from LSU of the students in the last 10 years who graduated from the LSU School of Journalism in Broadcast Journalism, and I'd say probably 80-90% of them could.
