Obviously. We've got a different threshold for measurement of success. I'd say 4 straight bowl victories, 3 straight regionals and consecutive supers, NCAA tourney appearance, and WCWS appearance is a pretty good run of success in recent years for a mid major.

Absolutely.

Sure, I totally agree with that. And I typically root for ULL to do well as long as it doesn't have an impact on LSU, which it rarely does.

But those that say we as LSU fans are "nervous" because ULL has had "a pretty good run of success in recent years for a mid major" are absolutely laughable and make your fan base look ignorant and delusional.

every fan base has vocal tards. Anyone who thinks our goal should be to challenge LSU's position as an athletic program is misguided and likely obsessed in a bad way with LSU. Our immediate goal given recent success should be to capitalize on fan support and improve facilities (which we're doing) and work to get into a better conference than the Sun Belt.

You guys will definitely get scooped up in the next round of conference expansion.

I agree. And LSU is not without their idiot fans, but unfortunately it would appear that many of ULLs came out in full force on this site this past week. 5% of the fan base making the other 95% look bad.

I'd say we have that same problem

my concern is that we were a bit behind the last round of heavy conference expansion and shifting. At that point, we weren't really an attractive option. Since then, we've had some successes as an athletic program and started to execute our athletics master plan. But like you said, if there is another round, we're in much better position to make a potential move.

ETA: some of these renderings are dated and incorrect but new ones haven't been released yet

What do you think is realistic? CUSA? The football support isn't there for the Big 12, although it seems to me that the Big 12 is continually falling further and further.

CUSA is the most realistic option. It's not as attractive a conference as it was a few years back but its still a better option than the belt plus we'd have an in state foe with Tech. I think our administration would be wise to try to make in roads with CUSA schools and officials. I also think the American is attractive but probably not a realistic fit at this point. Big 12 is a pipedream.

Man, you missed all the fun, but to get this thread back on track, what do you think is the proper name for your favorite school?

Andrew Toney couldn't sniff maravich's jock. That's absurd. The others are true, but the last one kills credibility

I like both schools. I'll be much happier if our season ends in the supers like last year if it's to LSU. Losing to Ole Miss was nauseating.

Not being from LA originally, the whole LSU-ULL rivalry isn't a big deal to me. I was really hoping you guys would take down OM last year too. I live in North MS, and the Rebel fans make delusion and art form.

LSU and ULL actually remind me a lot of Tennessee and Memphis, at least in football. Tons of Memphis fans switch to orange and white during football season, making the hardcore Tiger fans loathe UT all the more. They have only beaten UT once, which was a big upset. Memphis even had a relatively recent name change (Memphis State to University of Memphis). UT fans definitely look down on Memphis as the little brother, and don't regard them as a real rival, much the same way that LSU fans look at ULL and Tulame.

The big difference is that Memphis has had a LOT more success than UT in basketball, and is also better in Baseball. They are also in a better conference than ULL, and get a lot more exposure thanks to basketball. At least they have something to hang their hats on.
