Would we both agree that this is a big year for Miles? The farther removed he is from the NC and from Nick Saban, the more he must bear full responsibility for the program. Most, if not all, of the excuses are out the window this year. This is clearly his team, with his coaches.

I am clearly not qualified to judge Coach Miles. I support the players 100% though.

I'll support the team. I know several people on this board don't think I can be anti-Miles and still support LSU football, but trust me, I will be pulling for them to win every week, just like most everyone else on TD.

He has the winningest record of any coach at Oklahoma State in the last 50 years, including Jimmy Johnson.

Ok. St. had losing seasons in 11 of the 12 years before he got there, and in four years he beat Oklahoma twice and took them to three bowl games.

Oklahoma State couldn't find someone with a halfway decent mind in 50 years, and LSU couldn't find one between Arnsparger and Saban, almost 15 years. Maybe coaches with halfway decent minds are hard to find.

I have doubts about how he's going to work out at LSU, but the man has some cred as a coach on his own merits.

As another poster said, I'll cast my vote at the end of this year.

Saban got in their arse if they screwed up, Miles just pats them on the arse and tells them its okay. Saban didnt play his upperclassmen because of their status, he played the best players that gave them the best chance to win.

Signed, Matt Mauck - future dentist, Marcus Randall.

SO if it's not about winning, I assume the rest of y'all would rather be in Michigan's shoes???

Were you happy with him in 2007? Honest question.

Absolutely NOT! We backed into that game and there was no reason for it. LSU should have beaten Arkansas (and UK for that matter) easily in 07. That bullshite was the prelude to what we have seen in the program the last two years. Complete lack of focus/purpose on the field.

I have mixed emotion about CLM.

On the one hand he seems loyal to LSU and his student athletes. I lke his approach to players who dont want to stay. He lets them go where they feel is in their best interest. I think he is a good motivator from a morale standpoint.

On the other hand some of the coaching or lack there of would not be tolerated by many high school programs in louisiana. QB to this point not with standing but clearly problems with the OL fall squarely on his shoulders. Also his loyalty to his assistants seems to trump their coaching results or lack there of.

This year its at least 10 well coached victories or out the door he goes. IMO

Really? So no upsets ever happen in college football and if they do, they are all the coaches of the opposing teams fault! That was, without a doubt, top 3 of the greatest football games I have ever been to. Florida is always a tough out. They were worse than 07 in 03 if I remember correctly and look what I did to us. I know you did not say that Saban is a great coach, but if you don't believe that then you have no brain.

All this being said, I am not happy with the Ole Miss game last year. Other than that, I think Miles did a FANTASTIC job with what we had last year. Now if our offense sucks again this year and he doesn't make some significant personel change, I will be unhappy.

Why cast a vote at the end of this year???

He has stunk it up for some time so why not call it that now. If he changes this in the future, fantastic...but it doesn't change the fact that this program has been in free fall since 07.

So what you saying is that Miles is in no way responsible for "what we had last year"? He just woke up one day and the program was in the shiter? AMAZING!

I will agree, though say that the last two years have been exasperating. I am glad he is the coach heading into this season. Another year like the last two and next April my answer may be different.

Presently, I am glad Les Miles is still LSU's coach.

If you believe, like I do, that our quarterback situation last year was not a reflection of Mile's coaching ability, then what more could you expect. There are some things you just can't learn. Mental toughness is one thing I don't think is entirely a coaches responsibility. Both of our quarterbacks lack that. I'm hoping to see some maturity this year. We shall see!

Because I don't agree with you.

Miles showed he wasn't an incompetent coach at Oklahoma State. He had three very good years at LSU, and made some good hires like Pelini.

He's also made some mistakes (co-DCs), I think got a little complacent after winning the BCSCG, and made too many recruiting mistakes in 2006 for sure and 2007 wasn't so hot either.

I think he's addressed most of the problems (Chavis, much better evaluation of recruits from 2008 on), and this year he needs to get the offense on track, which I think he knows how to do, at least as far as the run game. He's hired two assistants I think are great hires (WR and RB).

I'm concerned but not ready to burn the house down yet. Some of you think you can just go out and hire the next Nick Saban any time you want. Most of the time, programs hire the next Charlie Weis, or Curley Hallman, or Lane Kiffen, or Ron Zook, etc.

Miles needs to have a good year in 2010. I think he will, but I need to see it. Jury's out.

I am happy with Les Miles

1) He won us a ship. Whatever you want to say about "Saban's Players" is irrelevant. I'd argue that football is the hardest sport to luck yourself into a championship.

2) This IS his "dream job." Anyone who argues that he doesn't bleed purple and gold to the core is delusional. The man turned down his own AM to stay here.

3) He gets major props from me for having the balls to get rid of Perrawho. Some elite coaches in this country would have put up with the bullshite because they didn't have anyone behind him. Just imagine what our record would have been the last two years with #11 at QB. This shows to me that Miles cares about the integrity of the football program as a whole.

4) You can't say that when something is broke he doesn't try to fix it. Defense sucked with the dual system...fixed. Offense sucked last year...I'm going to go out on a limb and say we will be much better. Crowton doesn't necessarily need to go for this to happen. I think Shep being an every down player is going to help more than people realize.

5) No recruiting fall off since Saban left.

Hell no!!!

And I'm not gonna sit back and watch the decline of a program and pretend like nothing is wrong, even while some refuse to admit it.

The sooner we fix this, the better off we'll be.
