So it would take more than one amazing season to win you over, yes?

I don't want to quibble. I want CLM and LSU to convince me that LSU is back. If that can happen in one season, great! If it takes two, I'm open. What I do know is that the last two seasons are about far more than rebuilding. LSU and CLM are a program that has every indication of having lost their way. And that is what led to the bad old days after Coach Mac was packed away.

You hate the average margin of loss argument so I won't bring that weak sauce in here. But the point remains that football is a game of inches. We've had a lot of luck on our side with Miles at LSU.. it didn't happen last year.

What happens if the refs had found that Peterson's foot had been in bounds? What happens if Scott doesn't break his clavicle? What happens if Jefferson had time to throw it into the endzone against Ole Miss as he was reportedly supposed to? What if we were the first team to play on the field for our bowl?

You couldn't make these excuses in 2008. We flat out got stomped. That there is a significant part of last year that can be summed up as just pure bad luck rather than some deficiency I think represents a move toward where we used to be. It's a small thing, but it's enough for me to anticipate the coming season rather than dread it. I'm probably more optimistic than most. 9-3, even given our schedule, would be underachieving for this team.

Apparently you and many like you have no fricking clue that Miles has earned LSU more money by far, than any other Coach in LSU History? What do you think LSU pulled in for the 2007 Season? That's one season. How about 2009? 3.8 Million????? LOL!! What a joke.
Cue Sammich and the towel waving brigade. I knew it wouldn't take long. But to your point, if Miles only job is to put asses in the seat and make LSU money, surely he has contributed to that, but then LSU football would do that with any decent coach. The popularity of the team is not about any one coach, LSU football is much bigger than that. Miles has about 1% to do with LSU's popularity. Miles job is to win football games, and he hasn't justified that $3.8 million dollar salary since AFTER 2007 when we won the NC.

Maybe the LSU Team will take on the same attitude as you? How would that work out?
Great argument, let's pull out the old "team" mantra, since we all play on the "team", we can't comment. If we make a comment, then the "team" will suffer.
quote:

I guess it's worth it to you to have a losing season, just to get a Coach fired?
It won't take a losing season to get Miles fired, probably a 7-8 win season with some ugly wins against undermanned teams similar to last year will do it. And no, I don't want it to happen.

They bother you because they didn't happen. Unless your agenda is to criticize Miles, which, let's face it, I know to whom I'm speaking... "ifs" don't tend to bother fans if they work.

What IF Matt Flynn hadn't hit Byrd in stride against Auburn? What IF Colt McCoy didn't leave enough time on the clock for Texas to kick a field goal to beat Nebraska? What IF Payton's onside kick in the Superbowl gave Indianapolis the ball in Saints' territory?

The point is, in close games, it's the IFs that decide the outcome. There were no IFs in 2008. Georgia stomped us. Florida stomped us. Troy... was Troy. The fact that you can look back at those games and point out one event that changed our fate is reason to expect improvement in 2010.

Your premise is weak, but it is enough for me to pin some hope for this year. Thanks!

That doesn't support his agenda. I'm sure he was one to point out how we barely beat MooSt or just managed to escaped Hogs etc.
I guess gettin your teeth kicked in, 3 broke ribs and needin the $52 operation is the same as a black eye in his opinion.

If you are talking about my agenda little man, my agenda is for LSU to start looking and playing like LSU again, not like MissState on steroids or Vandy on Viagra, but LSU dominant, focused, and a factor in every championship run. Last 2 years that team did not suit up or show up. You can pretend otherwise, but we all saw. We all saw.

Overly harsh. Like I said, we actually fielded a decent team last year overall. You're being overly generic and it's insulting to the players who brought their A game and performed very well last year.
