'm a huge baseball fan, but I cannot see him turning down 4,000,000$ on Friday, there's not going to be much more than that 3 Years from now.
3.4 is the most he can get right now. (Not saying that is chump change).

The good news is that there is hope for Broussard. He's actually done it before & then got injured. I still think Hughes is at least a year away from being a hitter that can be counted on.
Broussard should easily give us 15-20 sb's as well if he stays healthy.

IMO Smith performed better at 3rd than SS.
Look, if Turang comes to LSU then SMith will get pushed to 3rd, that's not really in question. But what in three games of playing hurt at SS gives you enough evidence to make the claim that Smith is definitely better at 3rd than he is at SS?
Posted on 7/3/18 at 4:45 pm to ProjectP2294
Technically, there isn't any evidence.
We THINK Smith can be a good SS, but we KNOW that he's a good 3rd baseman. Nothing more...nothing less.

If turang doesn't make it then I think Josh gets the first look at SS. I'm not saying that he will end up there but I think Paul really likes the idea of him manning the middle

Competition in a few position battles will only strengthen the team.
C- Willis or Mathis
1B- Beloso, Garza or Bryce Jordan
2B- Broussard, Hughes, Dugas, or Bianco
3B- Smith
SS- Turang
LF- Cabrera
CF- Watson
RF- Duplantis
My lineup:
RF- Duplantis (Lefty)
CF- Watson (Righty)
SS- Turang (Lefty)
LF- Cabrera (Lefty)
1B- Garza (Righty)
3B- Smith (Lefty)
DH- Jordan or Beloso
C- Mathis (Righty)
2B- Broussard (Righty)
The roster has a great mix of lefties and righties that makes it difficult for opposing pitching staffs.
Pitching is DEEP, should have a very solid rotation with

I’ve seen him play SS in high school and watched him for a year at 3B alongside Kramer and thought he played really solid at third. Not to say he can’t play SS by any means, I just think his natural position is Third

Trust me, I’ve played ball and understand the game. I wouldn’t judge a player based on 3 games. Players slump and get hot

This lineup will be sick if Josh Smith is batting in the 6 hole.

On paper that’s a fricking national championship lineup. Good lord

Unless you don’t think 3 mil is very much....cause 3 years from now a top 5 draft pick will at least get 7 mil. That would be a mil a year earning while getting to play college ball and possibly getting a degree in 3 years.

C.J. Willis will get the starting catching Job

Now you've got me wanting to go back and look at historical bonus numbers to compare them to inflation.
ETA: Comparing the growth rate, I mean. Basically to see if waiting makes sense even if you are drafted in the same spot 3 years later. I know there is so much more to the decision, but I'm curious to see what that part of it looks like.

Bregman’s Slot was 7.5 a few years ago..although he took less

I'm curious as to if you think Turang is going to get to campus.
You probably know more about his chances than anyone here
Posted on 7/3/18 at 5:26 pm to CottonWasKing
I don't have any inside information on it.
It's just hard for me to see a deal not getting done. Turang would be the first position player drafted in the first round to not sign under the current rules of bonus pools and such.
As it is, most of the pitchers (if not all of them) only didn't sign due to medical red flags.

I know there was some reshuffling last year of the bonus slots too, done to flatten them out a bit. Probably would mess up the math for me if I didn't mess it up on my own.

If he doesn’t sign, who looks “dumber”. Turang or Brewers?
Posted on 7/3/18 at 5:31 pm to ell_13
To me, the Brewers. It means they didn't do their homework before making the pick.
