then there would be such chaos that UGA would be in play for the BCS title game.

I expected a comment like that from Georgia fans, but Jerry Palm? Wow.

Yeah, a 2-loss team is gonna go over 6 legit 1-loss teams

You don't see the voters bumping Bama over LSU with a loss to Arkansas? (Rationale: Near tie in the head-to-head, the "Bama outplayed LSU" perception (even though not defensible), and 'Bama waxed Arky). If this happened, would the computers overcome the deficit and move LSU ahead of both Bama and Oregon in the BCS?

I see them moving Bama over LSU immediately after the loss and then moving LSU back on top after the SECCG (like they did in 2007 with UGA). They wouldn't even need to move LSU over Bama, just close enough to allow the computers to do their thing.

A loss in the SECCG and we are out IMO.
we would have to drop 7 or so spots in the human polls for that to happen

I agree with the majority of the other posters - your analysis is very much appreciated. Let's hope none of it is needed though as LSU wins out.

This year, we have an advantage of the head to head win against Alabama. We didn't have that in 2007 with Georgia. and they still put us in.

They can drool over Bama all they want but if we win the SECCG, have a better body of work (despite the a loss to Arky), and beat them head to head that shouldn't even be a consideration.

I would like to see LSU in the BCSCG,as I think they are easily one of the two best teams in the country.

I am not in favor of teams that don't win their conference getting into the BCSCG though, so if UGA beats you I'll rescind my endorsement.

I don't think that's going to happen though. IMHO it is more likely that you lose to Arkansas (also unlikely, but I'd give that a better chance, say 33% based on recent trends.)

You know, everybody likes saying this because it makes so much sense in your head, but:

1. Its stupid to take 2 loss teams over very good 1 loss teams because of this caveat (and this scenario could happen one day)

2. I just don't get why losing to Arkansas is perfectly fine, but losing the next week to UGA (in Georgia) is unacceptable

3. Other conferences (Big 12) don't have to worry about a champion game

4. What conference does Notre Dame have to win to make the NC game?

Great work LSUmatt, I always enjoy reading your threads just like many others. What a great feeling it is that us playing for our 3rd National Championship in less than a decade is right here in front of us. What a great time to be a Tiger fan!!

I read a post from slackster a couple of days ago that said if LSU wins out and OSU loses to Oklahoma that Bama is probably in but Oklahoma has a shot. It appears that both of you guys really know your shite but I like hearing that Bama will probably be left out because I've been saying all year that I feel that they are the only team in the nation that can match up with us man for man and beating any team twice is just damn tough to do. I like our chances in the Superdome no matter who we play but hopefully it'll be the Big 12 champ.

lsumatt, my hero! Yes, I'll say it once again, YOU are why I was at the 2007 Championship game in New Orleans ... bought my reserves after reading your posts back then.

Anyway, good to see you ... and shake off any haters that may come along. I appreciate you!!!

Surely no one is hating on LSUMatt right??!! Ive been reading his threads for years and he is normally spot on. Matter of fact I can't think of anything that he said would happen actually not happen. May have been but I can't recall. Guy has forgotten more about this BCS chaos than we all know!

diehard if I recall correctly, there have been posters who almost ran matt out. Really. Ungrateful Tiger fans.

Matt, in 2007 I literally copied the list of who you said had to beat who and scratched them off as they happened on that championship Saturday.

SO, what does my list to read like this year besides LSU beat Arky & SECCG opponent?

My 2007 story of obtaining BCSNCG tickets is and always will be one of my favorite stories as a Tiger fan.

Its been rough finding time this year to do stuff - I have been extremely busy. I usually like running my Colley Matrix future poll and my own computer poll, but just haven't had time. But I am glad I was able to do something this week and hopefully we'll have another thread the next couple of weeks.

Hopefully, things will stay "boring" and we won't have to worry much about who beats who. But I won't lie, part of me would enjoy watching Hog fans gloat knowing that they will likely be shocked to find out LSU goes to the SECCG and NC games, while they play in a non-BCS bowl.

Damn tiger91, there's only a select few people on here that you feel you can't take what they say and damn near bank on it and he is certainly one of them. I guess some of these rantards hate on those few because they've probably disagreed and been proven wrong before. I don't post much but when lsumatt is dropping some knowledge on here I feel obliged to say thanks. Hell I was thinking that if OSU lost to Oklahoma that a rematch was damn near a done deal. I know no one can be 100% certain at this point but I like hearing that the odds are against them getting another shot at us.

You do realize that this will be about 24 hours before the final BCS selection show right?

This is not a small thing here. It's human nature to remember events that have just happened as it is so fresh in people's minds. The thing about college football is the "what have you done lately" mentality. It seems every week there is a team d'jour that the media focuses on. Remember the beginning of the season Okie was the best team ever, then after they lost it was Wisconsin? Then it was Clemson that was the best thing since sliced bread..then it was Stanford. So at the end of the season it will be easy for the human polls to be influenced by the last thing they saw. If OKIE blows away OKIE St they will forget that OKIE lost to Texas Tech, But if LSU loses to Georgia, they won't forget that so easily.

Not that I want to lose to Arkansas, but the Bama meltdown would be sooooo classic if it plays out like this.
