LSU's outfield has been very strong for a long time and this year seems to be no exception. Has Mason made significant strides over the offseason? He did well coming in last year and providing a quality bat, just wondering how he will handle being the starter from the get go.
He's only 5'9 but he looks like a natural out there. Katz actually has a very strong arm and has been working extremely hard in the offseason to get healthy, he looks ready to go Feb 18th.

What happened to Johnny Dishon?
Going off of memory I think he was drafted by the Brewers in the 21st round last summer. Johnny had son in the past year, no one can fault him for wanting to support his family with that signing bonus.

42nd round in 2010 (Milwaukee)
He was one of the best all around athletes at LSU but he was constantly buried on the depth chart

Yes, this is not the traditional spelling of Jacoby.

Should we be concerned with the rash of arm injuries or is it bad luck!

Enjoying the the breakdown Adam.
I was wondering if you know how many OF's will LSU is planning to pick up next year? TIA
Mahtook=Draft
Watkins=Senior/possible draftee as well
Marcus Davis=Gone
I don't see a lot of OF's on the roster.

Watkins is a junior, he should be back next year. Katz will be back.
Dykstra will be back.
Ware may/may not be back.
Chris Sciambra and Terrence Magee come in next year.
A couple of other players have the ability to switch positions

Yea, I was just looking at next year. Katz could be the only returning OF.
And I was thinking Eades/Dykstra were more pitchers than position players.

Good breakdown.
This team is going to hit, IMHO, about 55 homeruns and steal 80-88 bases.

He hit .267 with 105 K's in 255 at bats in rookie ball last year.

Nice write up about the pitching in this Sunday's Advocate. Makes me cautiously optimistic.

Sounds about right for him. Although I remember an article about him during last year lighting it up hitting over .350 at one point and talking about how he just never got a fair shake at LSU

Designated Hitter
Raph Rhymes (So.)*
Beau Didier (So.)
For my preview sake we're going to list Raph as the designated hitter although we know he's been switching between DH and 2B. Simply stated Raph Rhymes is going to turn heads this season. The kid is a natural hitter, he has the ability to spray the ball all over the field. I don't think there is any doubt he will be in the lineup the only question is where to start the year? Rhymes a season ago hit .483 with 12 homeruns and 98 rbi's on his way to becoming a first team all american in NJCAA Division II. More than likely he will not put up stats that resemble close to that number, even if you were divide all his offensive totals in half I'd still be a happy camper. Defensively Raph isn't as polished as say Nola or Hanover, however he is no where near a liability in the field. Beau Didier the redshirt sophomore will backup DH/2B and get pinch hit at-bats in late game situations.
